General Hospital Weekly Recap: Maxie Chooses Spinelli! (February 23–27)

A woman in a black coat stands thoughtfully in a snowy outdoor setting, while a man in a dark coat watches from behind. Mood is tense.

Port Charles delivered heartbreak, shocking political twists, moral gray areas, and one very public slap this week — and the fallout is only beginning.

Maxie Chooses Spinelli

The emotional centerpiece of the week belonged to Maxie. She reunited with Nathan at his gravesite in deeply moving scenes where she opened up about the grief bubble she lived in after his supposed death. She admitted she fell apart and even blamed Lulu for part of her pain. Nathan, ever devoted, told her he would always do anything for her and James, and that he was glad she had moved forward with her life.

But when it came time to make a choice, Maxie chose Spinelli.

Back home, she told Spinelli she wasn’t choosing him out of obligation or nostalgia. She chose him because she is in love with him. It’s the little things, she said — the steady devotion, the way he shows up for her and their children. He is her home, her person, her love. Spinelli was stunned but overwhelmed, and for once the heart won over the ghost of the past.

Meanwhile, Lulu met Nathan at the Brown Dog and learned Maxie had not chosen him. Nathan admitted that if Maxie had picked him, he would have honored her wishes, but she didn’t. Now he is free to decide what he wants, and he chose Lulu.

Lulu hesitated, not wanting to hurt her best friend, but the two ultimately decided to be together — while acknowledging they have to tell Maxie. Liesl, however, was not pleased. She urged Nathan to fight for his wife and his son, but he refused to be guilted and walked away.

Maxie also returned to Deception and wasted no time reclaiming her power. Lucy showed her the viral footage of her on-camera collapse and explained how Sidwell’s financial involvement has entangled them. Maxie immediately drew a line in the sand: Sidwell can remain a supplier, but he will not control Deception.

Sonny Crosses a Line with ADA Turner

At the Brown Dog, ADA Turner admitted she has a problem — and it involves Sonny’s son. She still believes she had the right suspect in Willow regarding Drew’s shooting. In a moment of charged tension, Sonny leaned in and kissed her. She slapped him and made it absolutely clear it will never happen again.

Jordan later warned Turner not to let personal feelings interfere if she ever has to prosecute Sonny. Ric also confronted Sonny, cautioning him that kissing an acting district attorney could spiral into a legal nightmare. Ric pointed out that everyone in the DA’s office wants to take down the biggest fish in Port Charles, and Sonny may be underestimating how dangerous that dynamic is. Sonny insists Turner would never turn it around on him, but the risk is obvious.

Sidwell’s Political Power Play

The biggest shock of the week came during Laura’s live-streamed press conference announcing who would serve out Drew’s congressional term. Alexis believed the seat was hers. Diane had prepped her. Sonny even congratulated her in advance.

Instead, Laura named Willow Cain.

The disbelief across Port Charles was immediate. Willow accepted the role of Congresswoman Cain with Nina at her side, and during Lulu’s first interview with her, Nina noticeably filled in many of the answers. Willow avoided direct questions about whose idea it was for her to take the seat, insisting she would focus on her constituents.

But the real bombshell came when Sidwell visited Drew. He told Drew he knows what Willow did to him and revealed that he supplied the paralytic. According to Sidwell, he and Willow joined forces. He also taunted Drew with the news that Willow is taking his congressional seat and hinted that her political career will skyrocket if she becomes a widow. The threat was unmistakable.

Earlier in the week, Willow had a flashback to placing Drew’s house key on Michael’s keychain, and she later confided to Nina that she now has the power to push back against Michael and protect her children. Sidwell had previously pressured Willow to accept the seat, insisting she has everything viewers love to see and demanding her cooperation. Laura believes she outmaneuvered Sidwell, but the shift in plans suggests otherwise.

Carly and Valentin’s Dangerous Alliance

Carly and Valentin continue their increasingly intriguing alliance. Over a Metro Court chef’s special, they discussed Lucas and Marco’s involvement in Sidwell’s business dealings. Carly admitted her family dinner plans imploded once Lucas revealed Marco’s ties to his father’s operation. Lucas has warned Carly to stay away from Sidwell, but Valentin believes that was a mistake and that Lucas may now be collateral damage.

Valentin suggested the only way to save Lucas — and Josslyn — is to bring Sidwell down and potentially expose Brennan. He even floated the idea of letting Brennan take the fall. Jason updated Sonny about WSB tensions, revealing that Cullum may be even more dangerous than Sidwell. Jason also warned that once Lucas secures Britt’s medication, they will move her away from Wyndemere. The strategy is forming, but the risks are enormous.

The Wyndemere Web Tightens

Lucas learned that Britt is being blackmailed into working on a physical prototype of Faison’s project. Cullum has made it clear: build it or be replaced. Sidwell supplied the components, and the stakes are global. Britt explained that in the right hands the prototype could solve the clean energy crisis, but in the wrong hands it could be catastrophic.

Lucas offered to obtain one dose of her experimental medication so she could reverse engineer it and free herself from Sidwell and Cullum’s leverage. Marco refused at first, but Lucas made it clear he will not stay silent while Britt is trapped. Sidwell, meanwhile, showed Marco the former Corinthos piers that now belong to him, calling it the first step in avenging his mother’s death. Pascal overheard their conversation, adding another layer of danger.

Michael, Chase, and a Brewing PR Nightmare

Ric warned ADA Turner and Dante that Wiley is an eyewitness to Chase taking Michael’s keys, which could create a public relations disaster for the PCPD. Michael confronted Chase in the Quartermaine kitchen and punched him after learning about the key maneuver. Dante broke up the fight, and Chase admitted he arranged for the evidence to be discovered but did not personally plant the key.

Brook Lynn was horrified, telling Chase his actions resemble a vigilante with a vendetta against Michael rather than a cop. She warned him that continuing down this path could damage both his career and their adoption hopes. Chase promised to refocus on building their family instead of carrying the weight of the world.

Ric also had a moment of clarity, telling Alexis he no longer wants to hold grudges against Sonny and that family matters more than old agendas.

Gio and Emma Declare Their Love

Gio was preparing to fly to San Francisco to see Emma when she surprised him first. After traveling to France and seeing Anna from afar, Emma realized her mother may need her more back home in Berkeley. She worried about leaving, but Gio told her how much she means to him and even offered to go west with her. In a heartfelt moment, they declared their love for each other, solidifying their bond despite uncertainty about the future.

Trina Forgives Portia

After Isaiah confronted Trina with some hard truths about her anger toward her mother, Trina reflected and chose healing. She went to General Hospital, apologized to Portia, and admitted she had been punishing her. Portia was honest about her relationship with Isaiah, and Trina ultimately accepted him. She made it clear she simply wants her mother to be happy and is even excited to become a big sister. It was a powerful reset for their mother-daughter relationship.

Molly and Cody Reconnect

At the Brown Dog, Cody admitted he read Molly’s manuscript and loved it. He even joined a book club where they are reading “Pride and Prejudice” and debating what to read next. Molly suggested “Sense and Sensibility,” which happened to be Cody’s choice as well. Before he left, she ran after him and kissed him, signaling that “Colly” may very well be back on track.

Diane Returns

Diane is officially back at work, her leg healing well. She supported Alexis ahead of the congressional announcement and made it clear she would have stood by her in Washington. Even though Alexis didn’t get the seat, Diane’s return brought a much-needed sense of normalcy.

This week reshaped Port Charles in major ways. Maxie chose Spinelli and closed a chapter with Nathan, who has now turned toward Lulu. Sonny risked everything with one impulsive kiss. Sidwell tightened his grip on Willow and revealed he supplied the paralytic used on Drew. Willow stepped into Congress under a cloud of suspicion, and political power in Port Charles shifted overnight.

Alliances are forming, secrets are unraveling, and revenge plots are accelerating. Season 63 is moving fast, and nobody is safe.
