Another new face is headed to Port Charles, and General Hospital is already giving viewers a reason to wonder exactly how she fits into the canvas. Blythe Howard will make her GH debut as Monet, a savvy attorney joining one of Port Charles' most familiar law firms.

While bringing another lawyer into a town where someone always seems to need legal representation makes plenty of sense, executive producer Frank Valentini has already teased that there's more to Monet than her résumé. She apparently has an unexpected connection to someone viewers already know and love.

Who Is Monet on General Hospital?

Monet will make her first appearance on Wednesday, September 23. She's a litigator who has recently joined Miller & Davis, putting her alongside Diane Miller and Alexis Davis.

Her arrival won't simply consist of meeting her new coworkers and settling into the office. Monet will meet with a Port Charles resident who needs legal counsel, immediately putting the new character into an existing storyline.

GH hasn't revealed the identity of Monet's potential client, and there are certainly plenty of people around town who could use a good lawyer right now. Nina's recent legal trouble makes her an obvious possibility to speculate about, while other Port Charles residents are dealing with problems that could easily land them in an attorney's office.

For now, those are only possibilities, and the show has not announced who Monet will be representing when she arrives. That gives GH at least one mystery to play with before Howard even appears onscreen.

Monet Already Has a Secret Connection

Her first client isn't the only question surrounding the character, because Valentini has also teased a connection that could make Monet much more important to the canvas. He revealed that viewers should watch for her to have an “unexpected connection to a beloved Port Charles resident.”

That's a pretty broad description, and GH isn't giving away anything else yet. There's no confirmation about whether the connection is familial, romantic, professional or something entirely different.

Introducing a completely new character with an established connection to someone already on the canvas gives Monet an immediate reason to stick around beyond handling a single case. It also opens the door to plenty of theories about exactly who that “beloved” resident might be and why Monet hasn't appeared in their life before now.

Who Is Blythe Howard?

Howard may be new to daytime television, but viewers may recognize her from several primetime and streaming shows. Her television credits include Yellowstone, Bel-Air, Walker, Power Book IV: Force, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Dynasty and Silicon Valley. She also appeared during the second season of Netflix's Mindhunter as a recurring news anchor. GH will mark Howard's daytime debut, making Monet an entirely new character rather than a recast or the return of someone from Port Charles' past. That distinction makes the mystery surrounding her connection even more interesting. Monet may be new to viewers, but apparently she isn't completely new to someone living in Port Charles.

Port Charles Could Use Another Lawyer

Monet's arrival comes at a particularly convenient time considering how many legal problems are developing across Port Charles. Between criminal investigations, relationship problems and family disputes, Diane and Alexis certainly aren't hurting for potential clients.

GH appears to have something more specific planned for its newest attorney, though, and her mystery connection suggests Monet won't simply be another lawyer who pops up whenever someone gets arrested. Giving her an existing tie to a familiar character could quickly pull her into a much larger storyline.

We already know Monet will walk into Miller & Davis and quickly find herself representing someone who needs her help. What remains unknown is whether that client and her mysterious connection to a beloved Port Charles resident are somehow related.

Viewers won't have to wait much longer to start getting answers. Blythe Howard makes her General Hospital debut as Monet on Wednesday, September 23.
