Prime Video clearly isn’t easing up on the psychological tension anytime soon. The streamer has dropped its first look images from Season 2 of Cross, and if the photos are any indication, Alex Cross is about to have a very bad and very complicated year. With Aldis Hodge back in the lead and Matthew Lillard joining the cast, the hit crime thriller is gearing up for a high-stakes return when Season 2 premieres February 11, 2026.
Based on James Patterson’s endlessly popular Alex Cross novels, Cross has already proven itself as one of Prime Video’s more gripping crime dramas. Season 1 leaned hard into atmosphere, character psychology, and morally messy cases and Season 2 looks ready to crank all of that up several uncomfortable notches. According to Prime Video, the new season finds Cross hunting a vigilante targeting corrupt billionaire magnates, which feels both timely and just dangerous enough to keep the show firmly in “binge at your own risk” territory.
The newly released images tease a darker, more intense visual palette, with Hodge’s Alex Cross appearing increasingly weighed down by the emotional and ethical toll of the job. Hodge remains the show’s biggest asset steady, compelling, and effortlessly believable as a man who can outthink killers while barely holding himself together.
Then there’s Matthew Lillard, whose casting alone raises eyebrows in the best possible way. Lillard has built a career out of unpredictable, slightly unhinged performances, making him an inspired addition to the Cross universe. The first look images don’t give much away, but the vibes suggest trouble, the kind that smiles at you before pulling the rug out.

Season 2 also expands the ensemble, adding Jeanine Mason and Wes Chatham, alongside returning cast members Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill. Behind the scenes, creator and showrunner Ben Watkins continues steering the series, backed by an executive producer lineup that includes James Patterson himself.
Prime Video will launch Cross Season 2 with three episodes, followed by weekly releases leading up to the March 18 finale, a smart move for a show that thrives on conversation and slow-burn suspense.
With its provocative premise, stacked cast, and moody first look images, Cross Season 2 is shaping up to be darker, sharper, and far less forgiving. February can’t come soon enough and Cross fans may want to buckle up.
