The first official image from Boots Riley’s upcoming film I Love Boosters is here, and it’s as bold, stylish, and unapologetically weird as you’d expect from the mind that gave us Sorry to Bother You. The shot features Keke Palmer, Taylour Paige and Naomi Ackie dressed head-to-toe in shades of yellow, their expressions caught somewhere between panic and confusion. It’s a burst of color and attitude that practically screams “Boots Riley made this.”
Set in the glittering chaos of the fashion world, I Love Boosters follows Corvette (played by Keke Palmer), the sharp-tongued leader of a crew of female shoplifters known as the Velvet Gang. Together they turn luxury stores into their personal playground while taking aim at a fashion CEO who allegedly stole one of Corvette’s designs. If that sounds like a heist film dipped in social critique and couture, that’s exactly the point.
The cast lineup is stacked. Alongside Palmer are Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield, Demi Moore, and Eiza González, with Natasha Braier handling cinematography. Riley, who writes and directs, teams up with Neon for distribution, while Waypoint Entertainment and Ryder Picture Company help bring his off-kilter vision to life. Filming wrapped in Atlanta in late 2024, and the film is expected to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
Judging from this single frame, Riley isn’t holding back. The saturated palette, the matching uniforms, and that perfect blend of comedy and tension all signal another genre-defying satire ready to roast consumer culture with flair. I Love Boosters looks like a heist movie dressed for the runway, and we’re absolutely here for it.
If this first look is any indication, Riley’s latest will deliver the absurdist energy we’ve been missing. Grab your loyalty cards and keep your eyes peeled — I Love Boosters might just be the most fashionably subversive film of 2026.
