FBI Season 9 Gives Maggie a New Partner as OA Takes on a New Role

Things are going to look a little different when the FBI team gets back to work this fall.

CBS has revealed the storyline for the FBI Season 9 premiere, “Rendition,” and alongside a new case involving a top-secret government project comes a significant adjustment for Maggie Bell: she has a new partner.

Roland Buck III will appear as Special Agent Isaiah Green, and CBS says Maggie struggles to bond with him during the premiere. Meanwhile, OA is adjusting to a new role of his own.

Yeah, we're going to need some answers about that.

The case begins after a young traveler is found shot to death in a state park. The investigation eventually reveals that she witnessed the execution of someone connected to a top-secret government-sponsored project, sending the team after a killer targeting people associated with it.

Necar Zadegan also guest stars in the episode as CIA Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard, adding another layer to a case that already sounds considerably bigger than your average murder investigation.

But it's the Maggie and OA shake-up that has our attention. Their partnership has been one of the central relationships of FBI for years, so putting Maggie beside someone new while OA moves into a different role changes a dynamic viewers know very well.

CBS isn't saying in this release exactly what OA's new position entails or whether Maggie's partnership with Isaiah is intended to be permanent. What we do know is that Maggie apparently isn't immediately clicking with her new colleague, which should make their first case together even easier. You know, while they're only chasing someone connected to a secret government operation. No pressure.
