DMV Season 1 Episode 6 Blindspot Recap: Is Noa Warming Up to Colette

Man and woman in lanyards, woman smiling with hand on man's shoulder. Man looks at a document in a colorful office setting.

In DMV Season 1 Episode 6, titled “Blindspot,” the mundane world of motor vehicle bureaucracy collides with the hilariously absurd as Colette tries to bend reality to win over Noa. What unfolds is equal parts cringe comedy and awkward romantic tension, leaving me laughing, groaning, and questioning if anyone should ever root for Colette’s antics.

From the very first scene, it is clear that Colette has abandoned any pretense of adult behavior. Rather than accept that Noa is happily dating Mary, she takes Ceci’s ridiculous advice to heart: print out Noa’s photo, tie it with a red string, and stash it in the freezer. Because nothing says “move on” like cold storage witchcraft. Of course, Noa discovers the picture, triggering a cascade of confusion, explanations, and frantic scrambling that could only happen in a sitcom set at the DMV.

Instead of telling the truth, Colette lies. She claims that Noa’s stalker isn't his ex but is someone else entirely, naming Ceci in a convoluted attempt to shift blame when Noa checks the camera footage and sees Ceci with the red string. Her avoidance of accountability escalates the absurdity and leaves me wondering if she actually deserves any romantic reward. Even as Colette continues her magical manipulations, a small but telling moment emerges when Noa tells her he thinks she is “cool.” It is brief, fragile, and surprisingly sweet, but it is also tempered by the fact that Colette is still actively lying. The episode expertly balances comedy with uncomfortable reality, making it hard to fully root for her.

Meanwhile, the DMV office becomes ground zero for a lighthearted mystery when someone starts drawing "rockets" on posters. Fingers point to Vic, with Gregg not letting up that Vic is the one doing it and sparking office drama, but the twist is both simple and delightful: the culprit is a customer’s child armed with crayons. This subplot contrasts nicely with Colette’s over-the-top magical attempts, offering simple laughs but enjoyable.

Colette’s actions in “Blindspot” highlight her emotional immaturity and desperation. She is not the romantic underdog who simply needs help; she is bending reality and lying to suit her desires. Ceci’s role as the instigator, encouraging magical thinking, amplifies the comedy while revealing Colette’s vulnerability. Noa, caught between confusion and fascination, remains the grounded observer, unsure how to respond to her increasingly outrageous behavior. It is a mess and I have to admit, I was super excited about this show, I still am but not sure how much longer the Colette Noa obession has legs.

Colette’s magical freezer stunt might be the most ridiculous thing she has done so far, but it is also a telling look at her character. Noa’s softening toward her adds a layer, while the rocket-drawing subplot mystery was enough to keep me engaged throught the episode. I really wanted to know who was drawing those rockets and why Barbara cannot understand sexual undertones.

DMV Season 1 Episode 6 serves up cringe comedy and workplace absurdity. Colette’s misadventures are both hilarious and frustrating. The episode delivers strong character moments, absurd humor, and awkward romance. Next week, Randall Park guest stars for what should be a fun episode.
