Disney Finally Lets Down the Hair: Tangled Live-Action Leads Found in Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim

A long-haired woman and a man stand back-to-back smiling, with wanted posters on a tree in a forest. The scene feels playful and adventurous.

Disney has officially pulled the frying pan out of the vault and swung it straight at the casting rumor mill. After months of speculation, the studio has locked in its leads for the long-anticipated live-action Tangled, with Teagan Croft stepping into Rapunzel’s sunlit tower and Milo Manheim flashing the smolder as Flynn Rider. Yes, that Flynn Rider. Smirk included.

The move instantly puts Disney’s Tangled remake back in the spotlight, and for once, the internet doesn’t seem entirely ready to riot.

Croft, best known for anchoring Titans as Raven, brings a grounded intensity that could work surprisingly well for Rapunzel a character who balances wide-eyed wonder with emotional depth. Rapunzel isn’t just a princess with aggressively long hair; she’s a sheltered young woman discovering the world for the first time, and Croft’s past performances suggest she can sell both the whimsy and the quiet ache underneath.

Then there’s Manheim as Flynn Rider, a choice that feels very on-brand for modern Disney casting. The Zombies star has built a career on charm, physical comedy, and musical swagger, all of which are non-negotiable traits for Eugene Fitzherbert. Flynn needs to be roguish without being grating, confident without tipping into parody. Manheim’s Disney pedigree doesn’t hurt either he knows how the Mouse House machine works, and more importantly, how to make it fun.

The live-action Tangled joins Disney’s ever-growing slate of animated-to-live-action adaptations, a trend that has produced everything from box office gold to… let’s call them “learning experiences.” What makes Tangled a particularly risky (and intriguing) choice is its heavy reliance on visual style and tone. The 2010 animated film is beloved for its painterly look, sharp humor, and emotional payoff. Translating that into live action without losing its magic is a tall order even with 70 feet of magical hair to help.

Still, this casting suggests Disney may actually understand what made Tangled work in the first place: chemistry, heart, and leads who don’t take themselves too seriously.

With Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim officially on board, Disney’s live-action Tangled is no longer just another remake on a spreadsheet, it’s a real project with real potential. Whether it sticks the landing remains to be seen, but for now, consider us cautiously optimistic… and absolutely ready to rewatch “I See the Light” on loop.
