Paramount+ has officially announced that Gabriel Luna is joining Season 2 of the hit revival series, adding yet another familiar face to what is quickly becoming one of television's most impressive collections of serial killers.

Luna will guest star as Ray Ballard, a murderer known by the chilling nickname "The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger." If that name alone doesn't make you lock your doors, it certainly sounds like the kind of villain who could give Dexter Morgan plenty to worry about.

The casting news only makes an already loaded lineup even stronger. Brian Cox is set to appear as "The New York Ripper," while Dan Stevens will portray "The Five Borough Killer." Uma Thurman returns as Charley, Bokeem Woodbine reprises his role as Capt. Mixon alongside Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon, and Krysten Ritter is also back as a guest star. It's starting to feel like someone assembled television's version of a serial killer all-star team and somehow Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan is still expected to keep everyone in check.

For Luna, this continues an impressive run of high-profile television work. Audiences recently saw him wrap production on Season 2 of The Terminal List, and fans of HBO's The Last of Us are eagerly awaiting his return as Tommy Miller. His recent performance as Detective Rafael Tovar in Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy also earned recognition during the Critics Choice Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television, proving he can command attention whether he's playing law enforcement or, now, someone hiding a much darker secret.

As for Dexter: Resurrection, the series continues to lean into what longtime fans have always loved: memorable villains who challenge Dexter both mentally and physically. Every great season of Dexter has featured an unforgettable adversary, and introducing Ray Ballard suggests the creative team has no intention of slowing down.

Clyde Phillips remains at the helm as showrunner and executive producer, with Michael C. Hall once again stepping into Dexter Morgan's blood-spatter-covered shoes. After the positive response to the revival, there's every reason to believe the series is aiming even higher in its sophomore season.

What's especially exciting is how distinct each announced killer appears to be. Instead of repeating familiar formulas, Season 2 seems poised to introduce multiple unique threats, each carrying their own signature style. That could create a fascinating game of cat and mouse as Dexter navigates a city filled with predators who may be every bit as calculated as he is.

Luna has built a reputation for bringing quiet intensity to nearly every role he takes on, making him a natural fit for the Dexter universe. "The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger" sounds unsettling enough on paper, but in Luna's hands, there's every reason to expect a character who is equal parts charismatic and terrifying.

Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection is currently available to binge on Paramount+ Premium, giving viewers plenty of time to catch up before the next chapter arrives.
