Days of Our Lives Weekly Recap 5-5

Johnny and his grandmother, Marlena, talk, and she expresses that once he sorts out his feelings, he may want a family again. Chad and Cat discuss EJ winning a date with her at the auction. Chad suspects EJ has a motive but isn’t sure what it is, he intends to find out.

At the DiMera mansion, Chanel confronts EJ and blames him for Johnny’s reaction and current turmoil. She tells him Johnny’s light is gone. On her way out, she runs into Marlena and snaps at her slightly. Marlena remains calm and understanding. She visits EJ and promises to let Johnny know that his father will always be there for him. As she begins to bring up Belle, Chad enters, and Marlena excuses herself.

Chad and EJ talk about the auction and EJ’s date with Cat. Chad offers to buy EJ’s bid, assuming EJ is scheming. EJ claims he only wanted to support the hospital and picks up on Chad’s feelings for Cat, encouraging him to follow his heart. EJ insists he’s changed.

At Horton Town Square, Chanel warns Cat about EJ and encourages her to stay away. Cat also shares details about her date with EJ. Chanel then opens up about the adoption, and Cat encourages her to talk to Johnny.

Chanel visits Johnny, and they have a heartfelt conversation. She’s still hurt that he didn’t come to her, but she understands his situation. She tells him she still needs time. Shawn D and Steve discuss stealing the drug for Bo and bringing in Kayla. After Steve leaves to speak with her, Shawn D and Johnny talk about Bo, EJ, and Chanel, supporting one another.

Dr. Russell visits Kayla, who refuses to release him from his contract. He sees it as retaliation for not giving the drug to Bo. Later, Steve visits Kayla and subtly probes about the drug. Kayla, noticing this, says she has a meeting. Steve offers to bring her food—leaving it open for him to snoop. He later accesses the lab using a code. It’s revealed that Dr. Russell is secretly working with EJ.

Holly continues trying to contact Doug without success. Doug, meanwhile, is with Roman, filling out a job application. He admits he’s living in a shelter. Roman offers him a room and reassures him there’s no judgment. Doug is moved by Roman’s kindness.

Rafe sees Leo’s suspect list and is furious to find Gabi’s name on it. He warns Leo not to pursue it, stating he won’t let his sister go to jail for a crime she didn’t commit.

Gabi is anxious, and Javi tries to calm her until Leo arrives and undoes the progress. Gabi storms out, and Javi begins to question if working and living together is a good idea. He wants to protect their relationship.

Shawn D asks Jada if she had any involvement in EJ’s shooting—she denies it. Shawn D then calls Rafe to get his service weapon back. Leo barges in again and is promptly kicked out.

Rafe questions Gabi directly. She admits she was at the mansion but denies shooting EJ. She says she overheard EJ arguing with someone and even saw Ava at the front door, suggesting Ava probably wasn’t the shooter either.

Tate visits Sophia, who’s in low spirits. She’s never defied her mother before, but Tate reminds her that she’ll soon be 18 and can decide whether or not to give up their baby. He leaves to see Holly, and Sophia looks hurt.

At the pub, Holly and Tate talk about the adoption—and possibly getting back together. Tate steps away to help Roman, and Doug and Holly unexpectedly cross paths. They talk about Doug’s job and living situation. Holly is happy for him, but when Tate sees them together, he walks away. Holly and Doug follow, but she gives up quickly, not wanting her mood ruined—unaware a camera is recording them.

Dr. Russell informs EJ that Kayla won’t release him from the contract. EJ decides to simply buy the hospital. Dr. Russell is concerned about his research, and Kayla calls him back. Philip and Stephanie talk. He apologizes, and she forgives him—maybe they can be friends one day. Xander and Alex discuss the breakthrough drug and buying the hospital.

Shawn D and Belle talk about their fathers, agreeing that they won’t give up on them and will continue to support them.

Steve and Kayla strategize on how to steal the drug. Sarah arrives, saying she can’t attend the medical conference. This opens the perfect opportunity—she’ll send Dr. Russell in her place, freeing up access to the lab. Kayla later meets with Dr. Russell and convinces him to go. EJ informs Kayla that he wants to buy the hospital. She refuses and says even if he goes to the board, her answer is still no. EJ believes she’ll come around. He intends to own the hospital. Xander and Sarah agree to take a trip together.

Alex tells Stephanie he knows about her novel and loves it. He also mentions that Titan might want to buy the hospital too.

Belle and Philip discuss his guilt and actions. Belle suggests he may be grieving his relationship with Xander, especially considering Bo’s condition. Philip is sincere and wants to improve.

Johnny visits Xander, who invites him to work together. Johnny realizes Xander mostly wants to spite EJ and is fine with that. He says he’ll think about it. Chad and Cat talk, and he tells her they’ll be going on the date together. They joke about it and have fun. Johnny later talks with Chad, who says EJ wants to reconnect, but Johnny insists he’ll never forgive his father.

Abe gives Chanel advice, sharing how losing Isaac deeply affected Lexie, but they got through it. Chanel reflects on Johnny and wonders if he’s spiraling—possibly even the one who shot EJ. She covers her thoughts when Abe questions her. She heads to work. Kayla and Sarah talk about EJ’s interest in the hospital. Sarah notes that if EJ wants it, others will too.

Kayla helps Steve hack into the research lab’s system.

Marlena and EJ talk. She says she believes people can change—otherwise, she wouldn’t be in her profession—but reminds EJ it takes time and that he’s hurt many people. Even Johnny will need time to believe he’s truly changed.

EJ and Dr. Russell continue their alliance and believe they’ll take over the hospital.

Johnny and Marlena talk about Chanel and the time she needs. Marlena suggests therapy. Johnny also mentions considering Xander’s job offer.

Sarah and Xander talk about the hospital and Sarah’s belief they should act fast. They run into Chanel, who offers them scones. After eating one, Sarah suddenly can’t breathe. Javi arrives and uses an EpiPen to save her. Xander blames Felicity, but Cat and Chad calm him down. Chanel realizes she accidentally gave Sarah a vegan scone that triggered her allergy. She apologizes and shuts the bakery down for the day, feeling overwhelmed. Sarah is rushed to the hospital, and the trip is canceled.

Alex and Stephanie discuss publishing her book through Titan. Then Alex receives a call about making moves on the hospital. Johnny and EJ face off. EJ claims he knows what Johnny did the night he was shot, but says he forgives him and will protect him. He praises Johnny and speaks about the adoption. Johnny explodes, saying he hates EJ and doesn’t believe he’s changed. He says he’s taking a job at Titan and walks away. Chanel breaks down to Johnny and tells him it feels right being with him. She believes he made the right decision and asks him to come home.
