Taxi Reunion! Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane Guest Star on NBC’s Happy’s Place

Elderly man holding hat talks to smiling woman at bar. Diverse patrons in casual setting. Warm lighting, decor suggests cozy atmosphere.

NBC’s Happy’s Place is about to get a serious injection of sitcom royalty and yes, TV fans should absolutely be excited. This week’s new episode delivers a bona fide Taxi reunion, with Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane guest starring in what might be the show’s most inspired bit of casting yet. For a series already leaning into comfort-food comedy, this is the kind of throwback stunt that feels both savvy and sincerely fun.

Lloyd and Kane appear as Clive and Theresa, a married couple whose presence at Happy’s Place sets off a chain of mild chaos, misunderstandings and character-based comedy. Clive is a polite gentleman who loses his phone at the tavern, while Theresa is described as a free spirit chasing justice, excitement, and somewhat urgently her husband. If that already sounds like classic sitcom energy, that’s because it is. The episode smartly lets the actors’ natural rhythms and long-standing chemistry do much of the work.

For longtime TV viewers, seeing Lloyd and Kane together again is the real draw. Lloyd and Kane’s appearance marks a rare on-screen reunion for the two Emmy-winning actors, who starred together on Taxi from 1978 to 1983. The guest spot adds another nostalgic layer to Happy’s Place, which already stars sitcom veterans Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman.

Around the guest-star antics, Happy’s Place continues to juggle its ongoing storylines. Isabella’s return to dating excites Bobbie, until she learns Isabella’s new man happens to be her professor. Elsewhere, Gabby and Steve spiral over a lost phone found in the men’s room, proving once again that no sitcom plot device is more powerful than misplaced technology. These subplots aren’t groundbreaking, but they’re solidly executed and give the ensemble room to breathe.

Happy’s Place centers on Bobbie (McEntire), who inherits her late father’s tavern only to discover she now has a business partner in Isabella, the twentysomething half-sister she never knew she had.

In Season 2, the tavern reopens as long-buried secrets surface, testing loyalties and shaking up the workplace family dynamic. The series also stars Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn.

The series is created by Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott and produced by Universal Television. Kevin Abbott executive produces alongside McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman.

Happy’s Place gets a ratings-friendly boost and a dash of classic TV magic, while fans get to watch two comedy icons remind us why they’ve endured for decades. If NBC was aiming for nostalgia done right, mission accomplished and frankly, we wouldn’t mind another round.
