Chrishell Stause has confirmed she is leaving Netflix’s reality series Selling Sunset following the conclusion of its ninth season. Stause, who has been a central figure since the show premiered, cited mental health and personal priorities as the main reasons for her departure.
“I've gotten to a place where I don't need the show financially,” Stause said. “I'm lucky to have other forms of employment, because it's no longer good for my mental health.” She added that “Jesus Christ himself” could not convince her to remain on the cast.
Stause’s exit follows the release of Season Nine, which premiered on Netflix on October 29 and consisted of ten episodes. The season included several high-profile conflicts for Stause, including a dispute with co-star Nicole Young, who made disparaging remarks about Stause’s deceased parents. Stause was also involved in a feud with former best friend Emma Hernan after alleging that Hernan’s boyfriend had been abusive and made hateful comments toward minorities.
Despite the intense drama in her final season, Stause emphasized that she holds no ill will toward Selling Sunset. “The show has given me so many opportunities, and I don't want to be bitter about it, even though I'm leaving not in the way that I would've loved,” she told Bustle.
Netflix has not confirmed how Stause’s departure will affect future seasons of Selling Sunset or whether new cast members will join to fill the gap left by her exit. Stause’s departure marks a significant change for the series, which has been known for its mix of luxury real estate, interpersonal drama, and high-stakes negotiations.
Looking ahead, Stause plans to focus on personal and professional projects outside the show, prioritizing her mental health and new opportunities. Her exit underscores the challenges of balancing reality television fame with personal well-being, even for a high-profile star like Stause.
Chrishell Stause’s departure is one of the most notable cast changes in Selling Sunset history, and fans will be closely watching how Netflix adapts the series without one of its original stars.
