Two boys play guitar video games in a sunlit bedroom, one on the bed and one in front, both focused and intense.

Chris Pratt is trading superhero battles for a different kind of mission, and this time, the goal isn't saving the world. Apple TV has released the official trailer and new key art for Way of the Warrior Kid, an upcoming film about courage, confidence, and an unlikely bond between an uncle and his nephew. The movie premieres globally on November 25, 2026, just in time for Thanksgiving.

Based on the bestselling novel by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, the film stars Pratt alongside Jude Hill and Linda Cardellini. Directed by McG, Way of the Warrior Kid puts a heartfelt spin on military-style training, showing that becoming stronger isn't always about learning how to throw a punch.

Chris Pratt Launches Operation Warrior Kid

For Marc (Jude Hill), middle school has been one challenge after another. Between bullying, struggling in class, falling behind in gym, and having trouble making friends, the young student could use a serious confidence boost. Unfortunately, standing up for himself is easier said than done.

Enter Uncle Jake (Chris Pratt), a decorated Navy SEAL recovering from an injury who moves in with Marc and his mother, Sarah (Linda Cardellini), for the summer. Seeing what his nephew is going through, Jake decides to put his military experience to work with a training program he calls "Operation Warrior Kid."

But anyone expecting Jake to turn Marc into a pint-sized action hero might be surprised. His approach focuses on building discipline, resilience, and self-confidence rather than simply teaching his nephew how to fight. And while Marc has plenty to learn, Jake isn't exactly arriving with his own life figured out.

As the two spend the summer working together, Jake must confront some of his personal struggles as well. What begins as a mission to help Marc stand up for himself becomes an opportunity for both of them to discover what real strength looks like.

A Different Kind of Hero Story

Pratt is no stranger to action-packed roles, but Way of the Warrior Kid gives him a different kind of character to explore. Instead of taking down villains or racing to save the day, his biggest responsibility is helping a young boy believe in himself.

Hill, who previously starred in Belfast, takes on the role of Marc, while Cardellini plays his mother, Sarah. The supporting cast includes Ava Torres, Levi McConaughey, Darien Sills-Evans, Carl McDowell, and Parker Young.

Behind the camera is McG, whose previous directing credits include Charlie's Angels and Terminator Salvation. Will Staples, known for Without Remorse and The Right Stuff, wrote the screenplay, adapting Willink's popular novel for the screen.

The film brings together an action-oriented creative team for a story that puts mentorship and personal growth at its center. With its Thanksgiving-week release, Way of the Warrior Kid could offer families a mix of humor, heart, and some much-needed encouragement.

When Does Way of the Warrior Kid Premiere?

Way of the Warrior Kid premieres Wednesday, November 25, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV. The film is rated PG-13, and Apple has released its official trailer and key art ahead of the debut.

With Chris Pratt stepping into mentor mode and Jude Hill playing a kid determined to find his footing, this is one training mission where the biggest victory might have nothing to do with winning a fight.
