CBS Drops First Cupertino Teaser From The Good Wife Creators

Two lawyers sit at a courtroom table, watching intently, with spectators behind them under warm wood paneling.

Move over, corporate tech bros, because the legal drama gods are about to drag you to court. The highly anticipated Cupertino teaser released today, giving fans their first real look at what happens when the brilliant minds behind The Good Wife and Evil decide to dissect Northern California's tech utopia. Created by Michelle and Robert King, this upcoming CBS series drops the dark, dusty courtroom aesthetic for something much more insidious: bright, eco-friendly open offices where tech giants ruin lives over a matcha latte.

The newly released footage introduces Michael Price (played by a wonderfully intense Mike Colter), an elite attorney who finds himself abruptly fired and swindled out of his lucrative stock options by a powerful startup. Whew, the corporate greed is already heavy and we are completely here for it. Instead of slinking away into an early retirement, Michael teams up with Olivia Siffre (Rachel Keller), another recently discarded lawyer, to build a specialized firm. Their mission? To legally incinerate the tech billionaires who view human beings as replaceable lines of code.

What makes this teaser click is the immediate sense of scale. The dialog pulls absolutely zero punches, explicitly dropping names like Apple, Google, and OpenAI. We see characters openly warning Michael that suing these tech monoliths means he will never work in Silicon Valley again. But if the sharp writing is any indication, Michael is more than ready to burn those bridges down.

The supporting cast shown in the footage looks like an absolute dream. Renée Elise Goldsberry commands the screen as Michael’s brilliant attorney ex-wife, who naturally gets hired by the tech giants to destroy his new firm. Give us that delicious, high-stakes personal drama. Meanwhile, Busy Philipps shows up as Natalia, a wealthy divorcee of an AI billionaire who gleefully bankrolls Michael’s new venture out of pure, unadulterated spite. Not us already choosing Natalia as our favorite character.

Production-wise, the Kings are clearly aiming for a distinct vibe. The tech campuses look lush, sunny and deceptively peaceful hiding the cutthroat corporate warfare happening behind the glass walls. The creators have teased that the show will reflect the bizarre realities of modern tech culture, including an entire upcoming episode that takes place entirely over a Zoom call because the characters are stuck in traffic.

Mark your calendars, because CBS and Paramount+ have confirmed that Cupertino officially premieres on Thursday, October 8. If the teaser is a true indicator of the series' energy, we are in for a incredibly sharp, witty ride that might make you think twice before accepting your next software update.
