Teenage girl smiles at a crowded party, wearing a vintage graphic T-shirt and plaid lace vest, with blurred people behind her.

Well, apparently surviving one of the most disastrous prom nights in television history isn't enough to earn Carrie White a little peace and quiet. Prime Video is bringing her back for another round, and something tells us her troubles are far from over.

Mike Flanagan's Carrie has reportedly been renewed for Season 2, according to Entertainment Weekly, giving the filmmaker another opportunity to expand his twisted take on Stephen King's iconic horror story. The news arrives just weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered on October 7, 2026.

Mike Flanagan Has Bigger Plans for Carrie White

For anyone wondering how a story famous for its bloody prom night could possibly continue, Flanagan already has an answer. His adaptation makes some significant changes to King's original novel, creating opportunities to explore Carrie White's journey beyond the events that made her a horror icon.

And he isn't necessarily thinking small. Flanagan previously revealed that his dream scenario involves telling Carrie's story across three seasons, essentially turning the adaptation into a trilogy. With Season 2 reportedly getting the green light, he's now one step closer to making that vision a reality.

Summer H. Howell leads the series as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan portraying her deeply religious mother, Margaret. The ensemble also includes Siena Agudong, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard, and Kate Siegel.

What's Next for Carrie?

The first season established that Flanagan wasn't interested in simply recreating the story audiences already know. Instead, he introduced new characters, expanded the mythology, and made some major creative decisions that leave plenty of territory to explore.

There is no confirmed Season 2 premiere date or detailed cast announcement yet. However, with Flanagan's larger plans already on the table, fans have good reason to wonder just how far this new version of Carrie White's story will go.

One thing is certain: Carrie has never been particularly lucky when it comes to getting a fresh start. Perhaps Season 2 will finally cut the girl a break, but considering the creative mind behind this adaptation, we wouldn't bet on it.

All eight episodes of Carrie Season 1 are currently streaming on Prime Video.
