Brooks Nader Joins the New Baywatch Cast as Lifeguard Captain

Woman with long dark hair poses in front of a blue "Fanatics" backdrop. She wears a black top and hoop earrings, looking confidently at the camera.

Dust off your red swimsuits and prepare for a very high-definition dose of nostalgia. The long-rumored reboot of Baywatch is officially moving from "fever dream" to "Fox lineup," and the latest casting news is exactly as on-the-nose as you’d expect. Brooks Nader has been cast as a series regular, ensuring that even if the writing is shallow, the aesthetic remains perfectly on-brand for the Zuma Beach shoreline.

The Captain of Snark

Nader, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit veteran and recent Dancing with the Stars alum, isn't just joining the team as background scenery. She has been tapped to play Selene, the sharp-tongued captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. According to the character breakdown, Selene is a consummate professional who is incredible at her job—she just happens to have a "very different approach" to saving lives than her colleagues.

Naturally, this puts her on a direct collision course with Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell. Yes, Oliver Queen is now the legacy lifeguard, and apparently, he and Selene will be spending most of their time bickering over rescue protocols and, presumably, who looks better in slow motion.

A Cast Built for the Fox Lot

The new series, helmed by showrunner Matt Nix and director McG, is leaning heavily into the "next generation" trope. Alongside Nader and Amell, the call sheet is filling up with faces designed to look great in salt water:

  • Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Hobie’s daughter (because every reboot needs a legacy kid).

  • Hassie Harrison as Nat, another lifeguard tasked with looking heroic in the surf.

  • David Chokachi, returning as Cody Madison to provide that necessary bridge to the Hoff era.

The production is set to begin filming this spring at Venice Beach and the Fox lot in Century City. While the original series was a syndicated juggernaut built on simple plots and beach bodies, this 2026-2027 revival seems to be aiming for a bit more "character-driven" friction—though we all know the waves are the real stars.

Why It Matters (Or Doesn't)

Brooks Nader joining the Baywatch cast is a calculated move for a show that has always prioritized visual marketing. Nader has built a massive brand on social media and through her reality show Love Thy Nader, bringing a ready-made audience to a network desperate for a hit. Whether she can transition from the runway to the captain’s chair remains to be seen, but she certainly fits the "sharp-tongued" requirement if her reality TV clips are any indication.

Will this be a legitimate action-drama or just another expensive beach vacation for the cast? Either way, we’ll be watching from the safety of The TV Cave.

Do you think Brooks Nader has the acting chops to lead the new generation, or is this just stunt casting at its finest? Let us know in the comments!
