Title: Hidden Goal (ARC)
Author: Michelle Carrero
Genre: Sports Romance
Rating: Enjoyed
Spice: Flamin Hot Cheeto
Synopsis: Noah Kingston, captain of the Linden Creek University’s hockey team, top NHL prospect, has finally met his match. A woman on campus who’s not swooning over him. With all his dreams finally coming to fruition, can Noah Kingston afford to add to his already heavy load?
Savannah Alvarez does not date hockey players and for good reasons. She also doesn’t get close to people either. Until Noah Kingston comes around and flips everything she THOUGHT she knew, on its head.
Can these two figure out their own desires before the outside world and old traumas come back to blow the whistle on their game for two?
Thoughts: This was a cute and quick read. Savannah is the ultimate black cat. She rather spend her time with her best friend than party, and she won’t let anyone into her small world. While Noah is the big man on campus and a top NHL prospect.Savannah’s standoffish persona and her guarded life, is a valid reaction to the trauma of her past. Although reluctantly, she begins to open up to Noah, eventually trusting him in ways she hadn’t trusted anyone else in a long time.
Noah is the ultimate people pleaser. He’s willing to do anything his father says in order to realize “their” dream, even when it’s borderline abusive, and spends too much time worrying about how he’s letting everyone else down, instead of giving himself some grace. His thoughtfulness and the way he not only listens but remembers the things Savannah tells him, makes him the ultimate green flag.
The supporting cast of friends, Mav, Silas & Chloe offer up laughs and advice in the saractic funny way, only best friends can. I really enjoyed this one. Love the friendships and banter. The spice and the romance. There were more than a few scenes that had me kicking my feet and swooning.
Cannot wait to see what Michelle Carrero cooks up next.
Quotes:
“Oops. You left your jokes in the trash. Don’t forget to grab them and take them with you on your way out.”
-Savannah
Savannah Alvarez pro tip: if your best friend doesn’t make your dad question if you’re in a lesbian relationship, she’s not really your best friend.
