Aziz Ansari is getting back behind the microphone, and Netflix is bringing the cameras along for the ride. The comedian and Parks and Recreation alum is preparing to film a new stand-up comedy special later this month, marking another collaboration with the streaming service.

The upcoming special will be filmed during two performances of Ansari's Hypothetical Tour at State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Fans attending the shows won't just be watching a live performance; they'll also be part of the audience for a future Netflix production.

Aziz Ansari Returns to Stand-Up

Ansari has built a career that stretches across television, film, stand-up comedy, and directing. Many fans know him as the enthusiastic Tom Haverford from NBC's Parks and Recreation, while others associate him with Netflix's acclaimed comedy-drama Master of None.

His work on Master of None earned him multiple Emmy Awards, establishing him as more than a comedian with a knack for delivering memorable one-liners. The upcoming special follows previous Netflix stand-up releases, including Right Now, directed by Spike Jonze. Ansari has also continued working in film, recently writing, directing, and appearing in Good Fortune alongside Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen.

Netflix Cameras Are Heading to New Jersey

The special will be taped during two scheduled performances at State Theatre New Jersey, with shows beginning at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The theater has confirmed that both performances are being filmed for Netflix, although the streaming service has not yet announced an official release date.

The event brings another major entertainment production to New Jersey, giving local comedy fans an opportunity to experience a Netflix special before it reaches streaming audiences. For Ansari, the project represents another return to the stand-up format that helped launch his career. And for Netflix, it adds another established comedy name to a platform that has invested heavily in original stand-up programming.

There's no word yet on which topics Ansari will tackle during the new special, but fans won't have to wait much longer to find out what he's been working on.
