Apple TV is diving into darkness this summer with the announcement of Cape Fear, a psychological horror thriller set to premiere globally on Friday, June 5, 2026. With Academy Award winners Javier Bardem and Amy Adams leading the cast—and heavy-hitter executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg in tow—this 10-episode limited series promises suspense, vengeance, and a chilling revisit of a classic story.

Created, showrun, and executive produced by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, The Midnight Club), Cape Fear reimagines the tension-filled tale of the Bowdens, a happily married attorney couple, whose lives unravel when Max Cady, the dangerous criminal they once put behind bars, is released and comes back for revenge. Bardem embodies the menacing Cady, while Adams delivers both on-screen presence and executive producing chops, ensuring the series maintains both a sharp psychological edge and cinematic polish.

The series is inspired by both John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners and the 1991 Scorsese-directed remake. With UCP and Amblin Television producing, the show brings the same high production values and narrative intensity that made the 1991 film iconic. Adding depth to the ensemble are Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov, setting the stage for a tense, character-driven thriller.

Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) directs the pilot, promising cinematic scope and meticulous attention to suspense. The series will release its first two episodes on June 5, with new episodes dropping every Friday through July 31, 2026, giving audiences a weekly dose of dread and anticipation.

With a powerhouse creative team, an all-star cast, and a story that continues to resonate decades after its original adaptation, Cape Fear is poised to be a standout in Apple TV’s 2026 lineup. If you like your thrillers dark, stylish, and psychologically gripping, mark your calendars: June 5 is when terror officially hits Apple TV.
