All's Fair Season 2 Premiere Recap: Scorpions, Secrets, and One Messy Night

Two women in black-and-white formalwear face each other at a candlelit event, one holding a drink, with warm glowing lights behind them.

All's Fair is back for Season 2, and these women haven't learned a single thing about keeping the drama under control. Between a very expensive party, a fountain fight, a questionable romance, and an attempted murder involving scorpions, Ryan Murphy's legal drama wastes absolutely no time reminding us what kind of show we're watching.

The premiere, titled “The Scorpio Ball,” picks up with Allura Grant (Kim Kardashian) enjoying her ridiculously luxurious lifestyle, but someone is watching her through the glass walls of her mansion. That's already unsettling enough, but instead of canceling her upcoming party, Allura has a much more practical solution: hire additional security and keep the champagne flowing.

Dina Is Free, But Carr Still Has Plenty of Nerve

After ending Season 1 behind bars, Dina (Glenn Close) is finally a free woman. An airtight alibi cleared her of Lloyd's murder, although the actual killer remains unidentified. Dina decides she's ready to put the past behind her, which means making peace with Carr (Sarah Paulson). Unfortunately, Carr has never been particularly interested in peace, accountability, or behaving like a reasonable human being.

During their meeting, Carr admits to planting Dina's dementia medication and manipulating her maid into testifying against her. Dina still offers forgiveness, but Carr rejects it and takes another nasty shot by suggesting Dina would have made a terrible mother. That earns Carr a slap across the face, and can we really blame Dina? She immediately regrets losing control, especially because she's worried about what Carr might do next, but there are only so many insults a person can take.

Later, Allura arranges a reading for Dina with psychic Loni Everlane, played by The Real Housewives of New York City alum Dorinda Medley. The reading suggests romance is coming, along with consequences from Dina's past. Considering the company she keeps, neither prediction sounds particularly reassuring. Dina eventually convinces Allura to invite Carr to the Scorpio Ball as a peace offering. It's a generous gesture, but inviting Carr anywhere and expecting her to behave is practically asking for property damage.

Emerald and Liberty Take On a Very Expensive Divorce

Meanwhile, Emerald (Niecy Nash-Betts) and Liberty (Naomi Watts) are representing former model Aphrodite Lovesong (Robin Givens), who wants a substantial piece of her wealthy husband's fortune. Her estranged husband, media mogul Ray Royale, insists that their prenuptial agreement prevents her from collecting what she's demanding. Aphrodite claims she never signed the document, and the witnesses who supposedly verified her signature are conveniently dead.

The case takes a turn when Emerald discovers that Aphrodite used disappearing ink to make her signature vanish from the agreement. In other words, their client has been playing games with the evidence, and the lawyers know it.

Still, the agreement is declared invalid, leaving Aphrodite free to pursue a much larger settlement. She also has plans for her own magazine, which she intends to use to humiliate her husband. Petty? Absolutely. But this is All's Fair, where divorce is practically an Olympic sport. Emerald also finds time to help prepare her sons' partners for the glamorous Scorpio Ball. Between the designer gowns, the spectacular wig closet, and her determination to make sure everyone looks fabulous, Emerald delivers some of the premiere's most entertaining moments.

Liberty Has a Big Announcement

Liberty is moving forward after her failed engagement and finally exploring a different side of her romantic life. She goes on a date with Jamie (Angela Zhou), and the two appear to connect. At the Scorpio Ball, Liberty introduces Jamie to her friends and openly shares that she's attracted to women. Allura is supportive, but Carr sees the moment as another opportunity to be cruel.

Rather than congratulate Liberty, Carr launches into a string of insults, including suggesting that Liberty will always be alone. It's an ugly moment, even by Carr's already questionable standards. Emerald and Milan (Teyana Taylor) aren't having it, especially after Carr starts insulting Emerald's sons. Before long, the confrontation turns physical, and the women end up fighting in the fountain. Imagine spending a fortune throwing an elegant party only for your friends to turn it into a wrestling match in formalwear. Allura is furious, and she has every reason to be.

Dina Finds an Unexpected Romantic Interest

While everyone else is busy arguing, Dina catches the attention of Brody (Noah Fearnley), a much younger waiter working the party. Their flirtation takes an intimate turn when they sneak away for a private dance. Dina is understandably skeptical about whether his interest is genuine, but she eventually allows herself to enjoy the attention, and the two share a kiss. After everything she's been through, there's something refreshing about seeing Dina consider a little happiness. Still, that psychic warning about the past coming back to haunt her hasn't disappeared. Whether Brody is exactly who he claims to be remains to be seen, but Dina certainly deserves a break from the chaos surrounding her.

Allura's Party Ends With a Deadly Surprise

Remember that mysterious figure watching Allura at the beginning of the episode? Well, the premiere makes it clear that someone has a serious problem with her, and their intentions go far beyond ruining a party. After the fountain fight, Allura is furious with her guests for turning her carefully planned celebration into a public spectacle. But her anger quickly turns into something far more frightening when she suddenly becomes ill.

Her vision blurs, and she collapses as the women rush to help her. Then comes the horrifying discovery: multiple scorpions are crawling out of Allura's purse. Yes, somebody brought scorpions to a party called the Scorpio Ball. The symbolism isn't exactly subtle, but the message couldn't be clearer. Someone wants Allura dead, and after all the enemies she's made during her career as a high-powered divorce attorney, figuring out who's responsible could be a problem.

Final Thoughts

The All's Fair Season 2 premiere delivers exactly the kind of outrageous entertainment the series has built its reputation on. There's plenty of designer fashion, questionable behavior, messy relationships, and legal drama that probably wouldn't survive five minutes in a real courtroom.

Sarah Paulson continues to make Carr one of the show's most entertaining troublemakers, while Niecy Nash-Betts brings some much-needed humor and personality to Emerald. Glenn Close also gets an interesting fresh start as Dina, although her attempt to make peace with Carr proves that some relationships are better left in the past.

But the real question heading into the next episode is who's targeting Allura and how far they're willing to go. Between the mysterious watcher and the scorpions, it's clear that Season 2 is raising the stakes beyond petty divorces and expensive insults. One thing is certain: if this is how the season starts, these women are going to need more than good lawyers to survive it.
