It’s the news that has every 118 stan checking their flight status to Tennessee: the 9-1-1/9-1-1 Nashville crossover is finally happening, and it’s leaning into the exact kind of high-octane absurdity we’ve come to expect from the Ryan Murphy-verse.
Today’s promo release from ABC confirms that Buck and Eddie are packing their bags and taking their specific brand of "repressed emotional trauma" to the Music City for a two-hour event that feels less like a rescue mission and more like a calendar shoot come to life.
The 118 Hits the South
According to the latest teaser, our favorite L.A. fire-fighting duo Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman will guest star in Episode 12 of 9-1-1: Nashville. But don't expect a somber meditation on firefighting techniques. The plot centers on a "Firefighter Games" competition, which is essentially the show’s way of justifying a shirt-off competition between the West Coast veterans and the new Nashville recruits.
Showrunner Rashad Raisani hasn’t been shy about the fan service, promising a "hunk-off" between Buck and Eddie and Nashville’s own Blue (Hunter McVey) and Ryan (Michael Provost). If you thought the original series was dramatic, just wait until you see the 113 try to out-charm the 118 on their home turf.
Why This Crossover Matters
While we’ve already had a "digital" cameo back in October where Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) patched a call through to Cammie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) this is the first time the boots are actually hitting the ground in a different ZIP code. For a spinoff that’s still finding its rhythm, bringing in the heavy hitters from Los Angeles is a smart move. Let’s be honest: Chris O’Donnell’s Captain Don Sharpe is great, but he doesn't have the "I accidentally started a wildfire of feelings" energy that Buck brings to every scene.
What to Expect on March 5
The crossover event is slated for Thursday, March 5, 2026, airing across a two-hour block on ABC. Rumor has it we might even get a musical moment featuring LeAnn Rimes, because you can’t go to Nashville and not have a country legend serenade a group of sweaty first responders.
