When it comes to highlighting a quote on quote “Performer of the Week,” people often assume it can only be one standout. But in my view, there’s always room for two, especially when both deliver performances that are nothing short of chef's kiss. This marks the second time I’ve chosen two actors to share the spotlight, and both are more than deserving of the title. First, I have to give it up for Emmy winner Beth Maitland. While The Young and the Restless doesn’t always provide Beth with the screen time she deserves, whenever she is given meaningful material, she absolutely shines. Beth has portrayed Traci Abbott, the role that earned her a Daytime Emmy back in the ’80s, making her the youngest winner at that time. She remains a beloved character, actress and overall presence on the show to this day. Fans cannot get enough of her. These past two weeks have been and emotional rollercoaster for Traci, who discovered the man she had fallen in love with wasn’t who he claimed to be. In a classic daytime television twist, his twin brother Martin had been impersonating Alan, the man Traci thought she knew and loved, who had actually died. Beth gives award winning acting while displaying a layered emotional Traci as she processed grief, betrayal, confusion, and fear. The scenes with her brother Jack, were a particular standout as they navigated how to confront the truth and ensure Traci’s safety. And when the confrontation with Martin came to a head, seeing Beth alongside Eileen Davidson (Ashley) was a reminder of just how these two are together as on-screen sisters are the true definition of daytime drama. Beth’s solo moments, where Traci cycled through sorrow, disbelief, and quiet strength, were some of the most moving I’ve seen on The Young and the Restless. It’s sad to know that both Beth and Eileen will soon be exiting Y&R, because it feels like there’s still so much story left to tell. Beth consistently elevates every scene she’s in. Her ability to tap into deep emotional wells is a testament to the same talent that won her an Emmy decades ago. Here’s hoping we’ll see more of her range explored in future projects. Beth, thank you for another brilliant performance. My second Performer of the Week is none other than Alison Sweeney, who has portrayed the memorable Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives since the 1990s. Sami is a complex character, a vixen with heart, both deeply flawed and overwhelmingly compelling. She’s someone fans often find themselves justifying. Alison portrays her with a perfect balance. This week, we saw Sami go toe to toe with her sister Belle, who had fallen for Sami’s ex-husband, EJ DiMera, who also happens to be one of her rapists. Sami has been sexually assaulted multiple times, and this week she had to revisit her assault in a conversation with her son, Johnny, who is the son of EJ DiMera. As fans know, his conception was a product of his fathers assault on his mother. The scenes were painful and deeply affecting. Alison brought out every layer of Sami’s trauma, strength, and self-awareness. Watching Sami open up to Johnny, trying to help him understand her her journey, was one of the most powerful moments of the week in daytime. It reminded us that Sami isn’t just a victim, she’s a survivor, a mother, a fighter, and a woman still trying to grow, she is all the things. Alison Sweeney delivered an unforgettable performance. Her portrayal left me completely locked into Sami’s journey and wishing she would return fulltime. Kudos to Alison for reminding us just how powerful daytime storytelling can be when it’s in the hands of someone who knows their character inside and out.

The Richardsons The Lovely Mrs. Richardson and Mr. Duplicity Nicole finds the camera in her office and scolds Kat as Eva eavesdrops. Nicole tells her that it cannot continue and that not liking someone isn't a justification. Nicole almost analyzes Kat but stops herself. She thinks Kat is jealous and reassures her. Nicole asks her to stop tormenting Eva. Kat agrees. She passes Eva on her way out, who pretends to be just coming in. We can see that although Kat agreed with Nicole, it was to get her mother off of her back. This sibling rivalry is still brewing. I am here for it, although I would rather see them be sisters at some point.  It looks like Leslie poisoned Laura with potassium, which caused a heart attack. She has an infection because her immune system was compromised. Leslie comes back to check on Laura. Shanice catches her. She lied her way out of her predicament, but Shanice is suspicious.  Sly as ever, Leslie lies her way out of it. Okay, I hate to be that person. Actually, I don’t. As someone with family members in the field and someone in IT, it bothered me that Shanice left the laptop open and not locked. IN A HOSPITAL, that is a fireable offense and would never happen.  Tomas runs into Eva at Orphey Jeans and approaches her table. He asks her about her troubles, and she confides in him. I think that Tomas can be a little wooden, but he does seem to liven up a bit in scenes with Eva. He has a bit more chemistry with her. Sorry, TomKat fans. However, I still do not trust him. He knows how Kat feels about Eva, yet when in her presence, he seems to find himself engaging with her.  Leslie (Dana, Anna, Sherri - I cannot keep up) reads the invitation to Ted and Nicole’s Anniversary Party. She is stoked about the ways in which it will all fall apart once she drops the secret for everyone to hear. Dun dun dun… I suppose we will have to wait until sweeps to find out. Eva comes home and catches her mother in disguise. Leslie smoothly lies. Eva shocks her by asking if that is what she was doing at the hospital, pretending to be a nurse. Leslie denies it. Eva tells her what Shanice said about a new nurse, and it is mighty convenient that it happened just as Laura was all set to come home. Leslie mocks her, fake confessing that she caught her; "her mother is a total psychopath". She said she must be boo-boo the damn fool.  Eva and Leslie argue. Eva tries to stand up for herself, saying she does what Leslie says. She reminds her that Alan was there, and Ted didn't even want her. Leslie emotionally manipulates Eva to the point that she eventually apologizes. Eva confesses that she gets scared that Leslie takes her plans too far. Leslie tells her that if that day ever comes, she knows Eva will catch her. Andre watches a video of Nicole talking about her past miscarriages and struggles during her marriage. Ted comes in and hints at thinking the documentary was about the nurses. It seems Ted doesn't want Nicole’s footage in the documentary. Nicole talks about a time Martin got very sick. She brought him to the ER. Ted came hours later. She was a mess, as he was better in a medical crisis, and she was better at everything else. The phone rings again.  Andre admires Ted and Nicole’s marriage, but Ted humbly discourages Andre’s praise, sharply stopping Andre when he compares to Bill who was unfaithful. Andre senses something’s wrong, and Ted shockingly admits he once cheated, decades earlier during a painful period of miscarriages, tracking cycles and trying to conceive. It was all too much. The nerve, he steps out without considering how his wife was feeling, his wife who endured the miscarriages. He tells Andre about the affair, the pregnancy, and Dana’s abortion—revealing the blackmail. Andre advises honesty with Nicole, but Ted believes the threat has passed. This setup promises an epic showdown—I can't wait! The Bully, The Model and The Peacemaker Chelsea encourages Samantha, who is overanalyzing her photos. She gives her pointers on lighting and posing. Chelsea will miss people and vibes, but she can tap into that as a designer. Chelsea gives her good advice. Samantha tells Tyrell about her modeling plans and forms a plan to talk to her dads about it by pitting one against the other. Later, she talks to Smitty about being a model while Martin tries to get through to Tyrell. Tyrell reminds Martin that people his age can handle their own problems. Tyrell deflects to Samantha, and Martin demands to know what is going on. Smitty tells Samantha that he doesn't appreciate her divide-and-conquer approach. Samantha says that he is the reasonable one. Smitty tells her that they have responsibilities. Who will be there for her? She says it's just a train ride when she does have to go to NYC. When Smitty is about to crack, Martin comes down. Martin doesn't want to hear about modeling, but Samantha pleads her case. Martin calls it a childish whim, but Samantha says she will do what she wants. Smitty calls Martin out and tells him he must let Samantha do this. Martin goes to meet with Dani, who gives him sage advice, but when does Martin listen to good advice? He goes home to tell Samantha he cannot agree to her being a model. Sam doesn't get it. She does everything that she's supposed to. Is it because she's a girl? He says no. Later, Smitty tells him that if they keep telling her no, then she will rebel, and rebel she does. She goes to Chelsea and tells her that her parents did not forbid her from modeling. Chelsea begins to make plans. The Duprees Vernon and Anita discuss the fashion show and the ending of the Dupree modeling era. Vernon and Anita talk about their children, Dani in particular. They feel that things are turning around for her. Can we give them something more to do? Meanwhile,  Bill is going to take Hayley to the country club. I suppose he wants to beat his chest and demand that she get respect. Insert heavy eye roll. Dani meets with Hannah at the country club to discuss ideas for a grant program. Hannah tells her that she is no longer a member of First Gen, effective today. I smell a setup. Hannah gets a call and steps away just as Bill and Hayley come in. Dani watches as they paw each other for the benefit of on-lookers. Wouldn't that make them seem more pathetic versus gaining respect? Hannah tells Dani that First Gen board members have to be role models. Dani tells her that they allowed her to run the fashion show. Upset, Dani goes off as Hayley and Bill overhear gleefully.  Taylor takes Bill’s order but ignores Hayley, so Bill orders for her. Hannah comes back and admits that Dani might be surprised, but the vote to remove her was unanimous. There is a morality clause, and her behavior violates that. Anita arrives, and Dani tells her what happened while Bill and Hayley listen. Anita wants to assure Dani that she will be put back on the board. Dani says that she doesn't want to work with people who see her that way. Later, Anita comes home raging. She tells Vernon what happened with 1st Gen. They worry about other organizations following suit, but Anita has a plan. Anita invites Hannah over. Hannah is happy and feels that Vernon may have more opportunities for the charity. Anita calls her out for removing Dani from the board, but Hannah defends her position. Anita tells her that is fine but The Dupree Foundation will be making changes, starting with getting rid of her and First Gen. Hannah says the students will suffer, but Anita says they will start a new charity to do what 1st Gen does. Dani will chair it. Haley celebrates Dani being kicked off the board by kissing Bill. They are both obsessed with the Duprees as they watch and judge. Hayley even calls Dani the former queen bee, thinking Dani is holding court when Martin comes in to discuss something unrelated: Samantha's modeling career. Bill and Hayley try to rub Dani’s loss in her face. Hayley tries to compare herself to Dani and says that she pitied her. Dani handles it with grace! She tells Hayley that she is a Dupree; she doesn’t need to cling to anyone to be respected. HELLO! She also notes that Hayley clings to Bill as a way of trying to obtain respect and hasn’t even managed to do so. Garland Memorial Andre is beginning to doubt himself as the staff is running from him. Ted encourages him. He later catches the nurses talking at the nurse's station. Shanice gives them an encouraging speech. Then Ashley gets off the elevator, and I cannot help but be disappointed. Sorry, she bores me to tears. I am not sure if it is the actress or the material, but I am not interested. Shanice has stolen her shine. She could be one of the breakout stars.  Of course, Andre starts to interview Ashley AGAIN, and Derek is to be part of the interview but is running late. He steps off the elevator in time to hear Ashley being emotional over him. He is another boring character that I cannot understand why he exists. I want Andre free from both of them. I am more interested in Ashley’s mother, whom we’ve rarely seen, than her daughter. Later in the week, a suspicious Eva checks on Laura with flowers from Ted. Shanice mentions something about a new nurse, which sends the alarm bells off. Eva begins to question Shanice about the new nurse. Shanice questions why Eva is asking so many questions and even calls her nosy. She doesn’t get the answers she is looking for, but that doesn’t quell her suspicions.  Outside The Gates  Doug gambles, and I fear this story needs to pick up soon. Doug ignores warnings. He gets a call about emergency surgery.  At the uptown, Joey comes in as Vanessa gets a text from Diego. He says he hopes he's not keeping her husband. She says she got a text that he's in surgery. Joey says that must be a tough job. We see Doug distracted during surgery. Uh oh. He asks another doctor to finish as gambling urges are causing him to be faint. Meanwhile, Vanessa changes the subject, but Joey says they are discussing his marriage. Samantha talks with Dani. Dani wants to manage her, but Chelsea shows up. Chelsea says her mom has the experience, but Samantha has an attitude. They are dismissive of Dani’s help. Andre and Eva meet up at The Uptown as Eva drowning her sorrows. She asks if he ran into the new nurse during filming. They talk about Ted.  Ted calls Nicole and wants to make his crafted martini and signature back rub. The phone rings again, he ignored it. Weekly Highlights Ted confesses although it is to Andre. Leslie continues to be unhinged in an entertaining way. The Fashion Show was the highlight of the week Muva (Anita) shutting down the board member. Thoughts on The Week I really enjoyed the fashion show. They know how to do fashion on this show. The show in the 1:30 slot is supposed to be about a fashion house, but could take note of this one. I loved the duplicitous Turtle Neck Ted confessing and his world about to crumble. The bit of backstory there hasn’t done him any favors. I loved that Dani did not crack when Bill and Hayley antagonized her. She held her head high and let them know that she is Dani MFn Dupree. It made me want to say “okurrr”!  That said, this week was slow. It felt like there was a lot of filler. The stories are beginning to drag, and I don't know where things are going. I'm not sure where Doug and the gambling storyline are going; I need Guza to Guza here. Otherwise, the criminal element feels out of place. Especially when I thought it would have more political drama, so I expected to see politicians, etc. Ashley and Derek, they don’t really fit. We could see more of Dani’s friend whose name I am forgetting because we see so little of her. She is far more interesting than Ashley.  I need Anita and Vernon, played by two powerhouses, to have more to do than to sit around and talk about their children. I did enjoy Anita being cutthroat, however. Martin and this secret is driving me up the wall. We should have had someone blackmailing him by now. I suspect this is why he does not want Samantha to model, but that doesn’t make sense as he is running for President, or at least trying to. Another thing that doesn’t make sense. The show started great and still keeps me tuned in, but some weaker storylines need tuning. Part of the issue is that some things needed to happen more organically, but it started somewhere in the middle because it is a new soap. An example is Chelsea’s friend with an eating disorder. Instead of telling us from the first episode that Chelsea wants to design purses, it could have been something she was thinking about. Her friend’s illness and how the modeling industry impacted her could have been the thing that made her finally decide to leave the runway behind her and start her fashion empire. Some things have been told and not shown. That is a big thing in writing "show don’t tell". We are almost two months in. I expect the telling to end, the showing to continue, and more to be shown.

Trina hesitates but agrees after Kai commits to performing for her. Carly, Joss, & Brennan | Joss questions Carly's relationship with Brennan and her near-death experience from poisoning. Carly defends Brennan and assures Joss of her own agency. Joss confronts Brennan about the danger he posed to Carly. Liz & Ric's Accident | Liz opens up about the accident, initially believing it to be a freak event. Ava later uncovers evidence of brake tampering and shares this with Ric. Carly confronts Willow, claiming her actions betray Michael, and vows to help Michael regain custody of his children.  Jason and Sasha | Sasha decides she wants independence, but Jason encourages her to stay with him for Danny and Monica's sake. Anna and Emma | Anna confronts Emma about her crimes and expulsion from Berkeley. Emma admits her mistakes and regrets hurting a security guard. They reconcile after discussing their similarities and differences. Alexis and Kristina | Alexis confides in Diane about Kristina's actions, which include cutting Ric's brake lines in an attempt to harm Ava. Diane suggests committing Kristina to avoid prison time. Alexis agrees to commit her daughter to a mental facility. Joss and Vaughn | Joss is on a secret mission as an undercover agent posing as a student to gain Professor Dalton's trust. Vaughn reminds her of the stakes. Trina and Kai | Trina confronts Kai about his decision to proceed with surgery without consulting Portia. They discuss Drew's involvement and the risks of the operation. Portia and Brad |  Portia enlists Brad’s help to search Drew Cain’s medical history that could help her fight Drew. She still didn’t tell Curtis Drew’s blackmailing her.

Daytime hunk and favorite Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane, The Young and the Restless) is finally making his return to daytime television in a new role on long running soap General Hospital.  Goodard played Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless from 2007-2019 and was an instant fan favorite. As one half of the couple Lane (Lily Winters) his character was the leading man in many storylines only fit for daytime television. Fans were shocked when it was announced he would not be returning to the popular soap.  Since leaving the soap opera we have not seen much from him in the way of acting but he has been very active on his social media accounts. Prior to landing the role as Cane, his fans will recognize him from his tv show BeastMaster, a follow up to the film of the same name. He played Dar, a man that could communicate with animals and acted as their protector.  This new daytime character, Professor Henry Dalton is set to premiere on General Hospital on April 15th. All that is known is that this new character works at Port Charles University. Fans are already speculating that executive producer Frank Valentini created this character specifically for the character of Carly Spencer played by Laura Wright. Carly’s daughter, Josslyn Jacks as well as characters Trina Robinson and Kai Taylor have connections to Port Charles University.  TV Insider reported on the casting first and spoke to Goddard who had this to say about his character, “He teaches environmental physics, and it seems there are some things in his past that he’s done that have left him in a position of some form of investigation and from there, it’s an absolute mystery to me.” He is grateful to the daytime television fans for supporting him all these years stating, “an absolute pleasure to be back in daytime” and said “I forever will be grateful to the fans of daytime in general.” Are you excited? It's the season finale of the best medical show on television right now, The Pitt. Robby is able to get McKay out of handcuffs by explaining she helped save an officer’s life, a lot of lives. The Chief of Police gives her a break.  The kid with the measles, his parents are still denying the spinal tap treatment. Robby tries to reason with the father who seems more open to doing the correct treatment. He however takes him to a makeshift morgue to make his point about his son. This story is infuriating as you just want them to do the right thing.  Langdon is pushing his luck insinuating that maybe Robby does not have to report him. Please Langdon just go home and make the right decision. While they are talking, a patient who was hurt at the hospital comes in and Robby has to physically stop Langdon from trying to assist.  Javadi is going through it after having such a hard first shift and Mohan seems to be having an adrenaline rush and wants to find a “good case.” McKay warns Mohan is on a high and will crash soon. Later, McKay goes to visit the boy she thought committed the mass shooting. She points out how scared he was today and how scared women are all the time. He should imagine if his mother’s name was on a hit list. Another great scene with him, he is a great actor.  Photograph by Warrick Page/Max “I’m pretty sure today turned me off of practicing all forms of medicine.”  Langdon tries to gauge what is being said about him from Dana. Dana informs him she plans on quitting and Langdon tells her Robby thinks he is a drug addict. Dana calmly asks him, “are you” and I feel her on that. Don’t waste my time asking for favors if what Robby thinks is true.  Langdon asks Robby for a second chance as he was treating his own withdrawal symptoms. Robby’s terms are a 30-day inpatient treatment program followed by random urine tests, 50 to 60 a year, followed by NA meetings multiple times a week for three years of a five year program. Langdon brings up what happened to Robby in Peds when he has his breakdown, what a jerk.  Gloria wants Robby and Abbott to speak to the press, probably not a good idea at all. Santos' story about her friend who killed herself was touching and the more the season went on the more the writers were able to soften her to the audience. After telling that story to the patient, he finally admitted to suicidal thoughts and agreed to talk to someone.  The father of the measles kid went behind his wife’s back and had the doctors do the spinal tap. Also, the man that hit Dana was arrested, I wish we could’ve seen it. A patient comes in with a fork literally stuck up her nose and it's a light hearted moment in a heavy episode and season. Mohan finally comes down from her high and is crying in the bathroom.  Day shift finally gets to go home and Robby gives a moving speech about everything that happened in the shift. Still missed Collins by the way. Whittaker lives at the hospital and Santos finds out (how very Grey’s Anatomy). Santos lets him move into her place.  Robby finally checks in on Jake and Jake yells at him to leave. That was tough to watch and then Robby had to talk to the girlfriend’s parents. Now Abbott finds Robby on the roof, a reverse of the series premiere.  This episode was a nice conclusion to a gripping first season. What did you think of The Pitt' Season 1 Episode 15 "9:00 P.M? I have been in a slump with Abbott Elementary lately but this episode felt like a return of what I felt has been missing from this season. The first half I felt was a little off and I could not and still cannot put my finger on it but this back half with the golf course, Ava’s firing and the rag tag team trying to get her job back has been pleasant.  In “Rally” Janine , Barbara, Melissa, Jacob and Ava make a plea to the board to get her job back. The board is not trying to hear it, so Janine so she comes up with one last attempt by getting Jacob, Melissa and Barbara (and Janine) to say they are the ones that took the bribe and Ava was covering for them. During the audit the district said it would be too difficult to replace the teachers so this plan should work with Ava getting her job back and the rest of them getting a slap on the wrist. What could go wrong? Well Ava is still fired and Janine, Melissa, Jacob and Barbara are suspended for a week.  When the students hear what is going on they peacefully protest which is emotional for the teachers, seeing how much the students care. The district shows up and gives an assembly (they of course do not want bad press surrounding this). It was touching seeing each student stand up and defend their teachers pointing out how much they have done for them and how much the district has taken away from them. When they dismiss the students' feelings, the PTA, the group the B.L.A.C.K.S., Miles from the golf course and local business owners (including Ava’s father) show up to stand up for the teachers.  "Perhaps this whole issue can be put to bed by a white savior." -Miles from the Golf Course WILLIAM DAVIS, QUINTA BRUNSON (Disney/Gilles Mingasson) What really turns the tide in the teachers favor is when Crystal and the other teachers show up and stand for Ava. The district reverses their decision and Ava and the teachers are reinstated. Seeing Ava’s opps like Crystal show up for her has softened her to me a little bit; She was giving mean girl energy for so long. There was even a little moment between her and her father that may have started the healing process in their relationship.  Some moments to highlight in the episode was the riffing on Morton potentially being principal and when he stood up to district and said that Ava and the group were his closest friends was hilarious.  Gregory asking Tariq to sub as a teacher on a Zoom call and he was in the bathroom had me in stitches. Also, poor Gregory who was doing a great job as interim principal and beginning to want the job again (let’s not forget the pay) only to have it taken away. He is definitely going to be promoted to Vice Principal either this season or next right? Miles trying to line dance and looking ridiculous and finally the plan that Melissa came up with before the protest that involved a clown wig, ice cream truck and zip ties - what was that about because it looked hilarious. Overall, Abbott Elementary' Season 4 Episode 21 "Rally" was a touching comedic episode from Abbott Elementary reminding me why this show is one of the best. What did you think? Amazon Prime released their latest straight-to-streaming feature this week: G20 (Prime's latest miss), starring Viola Davis and Antony Starr. This movie looked promising from the trailer and has all the makings to propel Viola Davis as the next action star. Does the film accomplish that goal? Here are my thoughts. Remember films like Olympus Has Fallen or White House Down? G20 is essentially one of those films just without the gripping tension or exciting thrills. Instead, the film plays like a mad lib and generic action thriller that never quite delivers. Don’t get me wrong, centering the plot around the G20 Summit is a solid concept but the execution is where things fall apart. Visually, the film is painfully uninspired. The cinematography is bland and lacks any standout shots or memorable moments. I’m not sure what the director (Patricia Riggen) was going for, but it feels like she didn’t quite know how to handle a film like this. Normally, I love Viola Davis in everything she does, but here she doesn’t get much to work with. Her performance, like those of Antony Starr and Anthony Anderson, never quite lands. These are actors I know can bring a lot to the table. Instead, it feels like the film leans heavily on star power, rather than delivering a strong story or compelling characters. This is such a disappointment as Viola Davis as we all know is an Oscar winning actress. Overall, G20 is another forgettable straight-to-streaming flop. It has all the ingredients for a solid action thriller, but does nothing to elevate itself beyond just being functional, or even watchable, for that matter. Finally! Finally Sass gets the girl in Smooching and Smushing and this Ghosts fan could not be more happier!  Jay tries to fix the ghost catcher trap and it is not going well. He attempts to blow on it like an old video game cartridge and as Trevor points out that does  work like 99 percent of the time. The working theory is that because ghosts cannot leave the ghost trap that perhaps that is the only way they are able to travel. Is it just me or wouldn’t the ghosts just get sucked back to where they died once they leave the ghost trap? But anyway, Sam and Jay hire a ghost trap repair man (I assume you find this very specific repair man in the yellow pages) and learn from him that there is a possibility that once Sass crosses the ghost boundary he may get smushed. Of course this is a problem and causes Sass to reevaluate his plan. During their conversation Sass decides to talk to Joan to see if there is something there and finally stop pinning over his 500 year old crush. Joan and Pete are talking about her feelings for Sass and she decides she wants to confess her feelings and practices on Pete (pretending he is Sass). Well, as you guessed, Sass shows up at the wrong time and thinks that Pete and Joan have feelings for each other.  Sass decides to try the ghost trap but Joan attempts to tell Sass about her feelings and he is cold to her. Once inside the ghost trap, Pete shows up and explains the miscommunication. Jay loads the ghost trap in his car prepared to take Sass and Thor jumps in to rescue Sass. He and Joan finally get on the same page and reveal their true feelings and kiss. Sass finally has a girlfriend and she can stay. Oh happy day! "Have sex now! Please just end this!" - Flower Meanwhile, elsewhere in the episode, Trevor was going to spend his money from his job on some ice skates from his favorite movie but Flower suggested he give the money to charity. Hetty and Trevor come up with an idea to trick Flower into buying something for herself but she one-ups them and uses the money Trevor gave her to buy the skates and will sell them to him for twice their worth. Whoa! Maddy is in trouble in the latest episode of Matlock. She wants answers and she wants them now. She takes Maddy’s phone, texts Alfie, has the driver leave and locks her in a room to write down every lie she has told. Seeing this side of Olympia is jarring but in the best way. I feel like she has finally become a shark and I wanted this Olympia in the courtroom. Meanwhile, Olympia has a new client. A powerful family named the Buckleys who Senior represents has an issue. Amy Buckley, the wife of Grant Buckley, is pregnant and Grant is beyond controlling. He even scheduled her C-section. She wants a divorce the same night. Olympia does her best but the judge does not grant it. Grant does show up to the law firm and gets in Olympia’s face about his wife. Billy records him and Grant leaves.  Elsewhere Sarah is trying her own case without the permission of Olympia. She is writing a strongly worded cease and desist letter for her “client” while Billy teases her.  However, Olympia needs Maddy’s help with Amy. Maddy helps her figure a way out for Amy. Maddy explains that she had no idea that she would form a friendship with Olympia and the scene was so touching and heartbreaking because all Maddy wants is forgiveness and understanding and Olympia is not letting up. They do find a way out of the marriage for Amy, an annulment based on fraud (fitting). “People don’t see old women, but you saw me.” Pictured (L-R): Kathy Bates as “Madeline Matlock”. Later, Amy goes into labor and while Olympia tries to sneak away, Billy and Sarah follow her after finding Maddy’s phone in her purse. Maddy and Olympia come up with a cover story of Maddy having a headache and getting her own office. Maddy takes the opportunity to get her phone back. She also comes up with a way to help Amy by going after the Priest that married Grant and Amy. Grant told his Priest that his children would be heavily involved in the Church which is defrauding Amy who is an atheist. The Judge grants the annulment.  Olympia finally reads Maddy’s full confession letter and daughter’s obituary. We get a flashback of how paranoid Olympia was with the recording device and how she tore her home apart and argued with Julian in front of the twins. It was also heartbreaking. She begins to doubt Julian and in the last moments she tells Maddy to get up and they go to her home where Edwin and Alfie greet them with open mouths.  This was one of the season’s best episodes. It’s safe to say the whiplash episodes are here to stay for now. Last night’s all new episode of The Rookie  titled “Three Billboards” took us deeper into Miles’ life, or more like the life he could’ve had.  Bailey and Nolan’s journey to adoption takes a bad turn when billboards of John (along with Nyla and Angela) turn up around L.A. claiming that they’re corrupt cops. As if that wasn’t bad, John and Bailey being on the news showing them being held hostage on a bus didn’t help their case either. When the social worker stops by and lays this all out to them, they somehow are convinced that they would still be great candidates for adoption. Two people with extremely dangerous career paths, really?  I didn’t get the impression that Bailey really wanted to be a mother. I feel so bad saying this, but when the social worker said that they would never be given the chance to be adoptive parents, she let the idea go and started to plan a trip. I like the idea of them volunteering to be youth mentors, but from being told a natural pregnancy will be difficult, and that adoption will not be an option, where’s the emotions? I guess I can’t police someone’s grief, but I feel like there wasn’t enough time spent with this storyline and it came and went too quickly.  Lucy’s friend Rachel is back – since we last saw her, she moved out of Lucy’s place and went MIA once again. Lucy’s still being Lucy and trying to help out her friend, but there’s something Rachel is holding back from her. When she turns up at a party Miles is attending, she’s drunk and very much not herself. Good call on Miles to reach out to Lucy letting her know about the situation before things got worse for Rachel. Celina tags along as back up and when they find Rachel she dismisses them saying she could take care of herself (Rachel, honey – what’s going on here?)  (Disney/Mike Taing) MELISSA O’NEIL, NATHAN FILLION Once the partying is done, and the hangover took over – Rachel finally lets Lucy know what’s been going on with her. It turns out her father passed away and dealing with that alone has been tough for her. I feel for Rachel and once again, I will not police anyone’s grief, however, I wish this was another story that wasn’t rushed (more like thrown in at random?). Lucy knew Rachel’s father and I wish they would’ve explored that more.  While at a crime scene, Miles runs into an old college football teammate, AJ Knox, who went on to play for the NFL – a dream that was once the same for Miles before an injury derailed his plans. AJ invites him to a house party and while there, Miles gets a glimpse of the life that could’ve been his.  At first, I thought AJ was rubbing it all in Miles’ face, but it seemed like he wanted to get Miles’ involved in his world. AJ’s house was huge with people he didn’t even know all over having a great time – and some definitely not knowing their limit (Rachel, I’m looking at you girl). As Miles looked around, he seemingly had a case of FOMO. I felt bad for him; his entire situation is tough. He’s living in his car while someone he played with has so many rooms, there are some he doesn’t even go in.   While browsing around the house, Miles caught AJ’s best friend/personal trainer/chief of staff, Sean, stealing some of his jewelry and thought it was suspicious (he said AJ allowed him to borrow it). Miles is a good friend – he told AJ about it right away but AJ didn’t care. Instead, he offered Miles a job to be part of his security detail. Why would you keep someone around if they’re stealing from you? Something about AJ not caring about that was a red flag to me. The people around you 24/7 don’t respect you and you’re cool with that? Sean didn’t just stop at stealing jewelry though, he tried (and failed) at setting AJ up to get robbed so that he could clear a debt. When Miles (with the help of Lucy and Celina) took Sean and his accomplices, AJ brought up the idea of Miles working for him again. Now here is where I know Miles has his head on straight – despite this role helping him get out of the situation he’s currently in, he declines the offer.  I loved the spotlight being on Miles in this episode and I hope we get to learn more about him. The Witches are back at Mayfair as AMC has renewed the series based on the works of Anne Rice for another season, expanding her universe with the network. Some more tea? But of course, Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) is joining the crew as co-showrunner. Esta Spalding will remain this season as well. Spalding commented on the renewal stating, “ I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches . A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet.” Thomas Schnauz added to Spalding’s statement saying, “I’m incredibly excited to reunite with both AMC and [executive producer] Mark Johnson on Mayfair Witches . The work I’ve done so far with Esta Spalding on season three has been fantastic and fun, and we’re hoping that translates to the screen for fans and new viewers of the show.” I have to admit out of the entire universe, Mayfair Witches does not rank high for me but hearing that Season 3 will take place in Salem, Massachusetts gives me hope that this new season may be interesting enough for this writer to tune in. If you are unfamiliar with the significance of Salem (why are you even watching this show if you aren’t), of course Salem is home of the witch trials. A witch is just not safe in that town to be honest.  Seems like the series is poised to introduce a coven full of new characters. Dan McDermott who is President of Entertainment at AMC Studios for AMC Networks had this to say about the renewal, “ The drama and complexities of the Mayfair family continue to be an intriguing and enchanting source of story, and expanding that story against the backdrop of Salem, a historical haven of witchcraft, is an exciting next chapter for this series and our larger Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Tom Schnauz has a storied history with AMC, and we’re elated to have him join the talented Esta Spalding and our Mayfair  cast for a season that will explore a larger world of witchery and Mayfair family secrets as we continue to build out this dynamic franchise.”   This should tie in nicely with the end of season two where our main witch girly leveled up her powers. We can safely assume that Tongayi Chirisa, Jack Huston, Harry Hamiln and Alyssa Jirrels will be returning for season three. The new trailer for AppleTV+’s Murderbot has been released and it shows Alexander Skarsgård like we have never seen him before. Based on Martha Wells’ The Murderbot Diaries , the series follows Skarsgård’s character who is a security guard robot unit tasked with assisting humans but he has had enough of humanity (can we blame him) and has hacked his programming giving him free will. He keeps it on the down low until he is picked for a new mission and his true nature is exposed.  The sci-fi comedy also stars David Dastmalchian as Gurathin, Sabrina Wu, as Pin-Lee Noma Dumezweni as Mensah, Josh Cruddas as Venenek, Tamara Podemski as Bharadwaj and Tattiawna Jones as Arada.  Many fans are used to seeing Skarsgård as an anti hero for sure or a murderous vampire but a robot with a disdain for humans who calls himself Murderbot is a new one. From the looks of the trailer, this one looks like it could be a hit. The series will premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes Friday, May 16. New episodes will then drop weekly on Fridays for a total of 10 episodes in the first season. Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.
