If you’re into redemption stories, this is the one for you.  With the help and guidance of Cora, Kellan is able to make amends with his team and begin mending the fence he broke with Grace. His growth is gradual and meaningful and his insta respect and adoration for Cora is adorable. He was definitely a cutie pie with a yummy, warm and gooey center. Although Kellan had me wanting to punch him through the first book, seeing him man up to his mistakes in this book made me want to hold him close. Cora may have pushed him to be better now, but his desire to make amends and turn himself around was really what got me. Kellan goes from Grade A asshole to the puppy dog of my dreams in just a matter of chapters. From the moment they meet, Cora knows who he is, he’s the guy who hurt her future sis in law, the guy who made her brothers previous hockey season a drama filled mess but how could that matter when he looks at her the way he does? When he makes her feel special in a way she’s never experienced before? Cora’s stuck in the middle of what she wants and what is expected of her and her growth; from a girl who does what she’s told, to a young woman making her own way in life, was encouraging to read.  If you’re looking for a redemption story with a hot hockey player and a strong willed young woman, Cross Check by Cala Riley is for you. Secrets explode, bodies drop, and alliances implode in a twisted hour that ties up a few loose ends… just tightly enough to strangle someone. Let’s start where all good family drama begins: a corpse in the kitchen. Kevin monologues to the very dead Rusby, baring his broken soul and confirming that yes, the Harrigan family tree is more of a crime-ridden tumbleweed. He drops a truth bomb: “My son is my brother. My wife is my dad’s sloppy seconds.” Oh, and he knew Eddie wasn’t his kid, but also… kind of didn’t? Welcome to MobLand , where denial is a family tradition. While Kevin deals with his identity crisis, the cops are dealing with the Harrigans. Richie’s men swarm the Harrigan safehouse, only to get blown to bits. O’Hara’s double-cross backfires when a bomb in her own office wipes out more of Richie’s crew. And in a scene straight out of John Wick’s Irish cousin , Harry and Kevin storm the pub, kill Richie and O’Hara, and deliver the final bullet with swagger: “The Harrigans say hello.” Back in prison, Maeve tells Conrad the bloodbath was just “a test.” Of what? Loyalty? Insanity? Whatever—she passed with flying colors. Thanks to Nicola’s taped confession, Conrad and Maeve may even walk free. Just in time for Season 2 chaos. The episode closes with Kevin and Bella forming a trauma bond, Kat making veiled threats, and Jan—sweet, quiet Jan— accidentally stabbing Harry in the chest. Oops. So who won? Who survived? Who’s next? One thing’s clear: the Harrigans aren’t done. They’re just getting started—and MobLand  just delivered one hell of a finale.

And Just Like That, season 3 finally arrives filled with daily antics and over-zealous humor in your 50’s.  The show has  maneuvered through various styles and tones to create a familiar yet different world for the audience to embark on. Dating struggles, random hijinks, questioning your confidence and adapting to current situations opens up the season to a wide range of storylines. [SPOILERS] The episode opens with Carrie in her new home, but not completely settled in. With unpacked boxes still around her, we see Carrie  send a postcard to Aiden with a heart on it. Their long overdue happily ever after is once again delayed, this time by Aiden’s duty to his family. Can their love endure? For Miranda, our new lesbian in training is floating in the dating pool, searching for a connection. In a twist-of-events, she meets Mary, played by Rosie O’Donnell, and they have a rendezvous in her hotel room. In a halo of morning after glow, Mary reveals that  she was a virgin - and a nun! As Carrie said after learning the news, ‘you deflowered the Virgin Mary.”  Seema is adjusting to long distance with Ravi as he works on his new movie in Egypt. But the frustration is unbearable. So much so, that she smokes in her bed and sets a fire. With her confidence in limbo, she requests that Ravi comes back to see her. And he obliges but not alone. Ravi also brings his scouting team with him. After an exhaustive day where lunch and dinner plans evaporate, so does the relationship between them. I actually enjoyed this pairing, but I guess we will see Seema kiss a few more frogs before true, unconditional love wraps around her.  We also get a peek into Lisa’s career and family life as she too questions if she can accomplish an unthinkable task - add Michelle Obama to her film project of unsung heroes. Also, like many loving wives, she hosts a dinner at Red Rooster to assist with her husband’s campaign. It was refreshing to see a popular restaurant that I was familiar with and eager to visit included in the show. All the gals gathered as Herbert relived his time at Morehouse with his college acapella group. The episode is rounded out with Charlotte and her family day-to-day of parenting, being a wife and fur mom. Anthony and his new beau are also doing well and their relationship seems to be steady in the first episode.   With Carrie falling in her home, the random kitchen door alarm and the poor attempts at phone sex with Aiden while her new kitten watches, the show is still on a quirky balancing act. How do you find love and happiness in your next act of life? There is a tonal shift from season two and it feels more like segment storytelling versus a continuous flow with everyone’s lives intertwined. Maybe it’s on purpose? As we get older, we become more siloed? Hopefully this season will find a good balance with all the various story arcs.

“Nonnas,”  also known as Grandmothers , was a heartwarming, endearing reverie. Watching it was like having a seat at the table of the deliciously delectable foods they cooked. This is a true story that begins with a child, Joey Scaravella , growing up in a family and community where everyone knew each other, 40 years ago in Brooklyn, NY . Nonnas  reminds one how much family and friends  add to the growth and development of children. Joey loved watching and taste-testing the foods his Mom and Nonna  made in the kitchen. Joe grows up and is devastated by the loss of his mom . He learned to cook—and actually did it well. He could recreate a lot of the foods he remembers, except his Nonna’s sauce. That is a subtle thread tied to his most cherished core family memory. Joe grew up to be an MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) worker . The grief he carried with him was debilitating at times. Joe would visit his Mom’s best friend, Roberta , in the assisted living facility. His family and best friend tried to help him. They shared memories, and Joe gave her his Mom’s gift. Roberta gave Joe a letter from his Mom , which he couldn’t open due to the flood of memories. Later, his best friend Bruno  and Bruno’s wife Stella  finally talked to him, helping him work through his grief. Joe agreed he’d try. Slowly, he began visiting places he used to go with his Mom and Nonna. On a visit to Staten Island , he reconnected with an old friend, Olivia , and her neighbor. He found a restaurant and bought it—with the dream of making food like his Mom and Nonna used to make. The restaurant needed serious renovations. Stella loved the idea Joe had: getting real-life grandmas (Nonnas)  to cook. Bruno shared what was needed to bring the building up to code. Stella started planning decorations. Bruno agreed to do the renovation work, and things started to happen. Joe met a local business owner who wasn’t pleased with outsiders changing things. Joe apologized, though the tension remained. Joe asked Roberta to be one of the chefs. Olivia brought her neighbor, Antonella , for a job interview. Another woman arrived: Teresa , a retired nun who was a calming presence and an extraordinary cook. They all got the jobs. These women brought authentic joy  to cooking. Bruno reminded Joe to find someone who could make good desserts —enter Gia . With Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro, and Susan Sarandon  playing the Nonnas, it was wonderful to see their closeness develop. The food fights were funny and heartwarming. The rest of the movie showed the ups and downs  Joe faced before his restaurant finally became profitable. A fallout with Bruno—played by Joe Manganiello —adds emotional weight. Stella helped mend their friendship. All this, while Joe continued working his day job , showed how determined he was not to give up on his dream. Joe also rekindled his friendship with Olivia . Their sweet relationship became a comforting thread. Olivia and Antonella’s shared experiences with grief bonded them—and they helped Joe get the certificate of occupancy . Teresa’s prayers helped, too. Joe tried everything: calling, emailing, and writing to food critics , but no one replied. Advertising didn’t help either. He eventually learned local business owners were discouraging people from supporting the restaurant. In a bold move, Joe brought food samples to a newspaper editor’s office . A reviewer eventually came and was so impressed with the family atmosphere  and delicious food , they wrote a glowing review. That’s when Enoteca Maria  took off. Joe finally opened the letter Roberta gave him. Inside was a beautiful letter from his Mom —and the recipe he longed for: his Nonna’s gravy sauce . This movie was filled with heartfelt core memory moments , working through disappointment, grief , and life-changing decisions . It’s like a delicious book coming to life—bringing smiles and tears when least expected. It’s wonderful to see a true story  about family, love, food, and healing . It was a treat to see the real Enoteca Maria , the owners, and the Nonnas at the end.

It was just that—AN ADVENTURE!   The Fountain of Youth  movie takes you on an amazing ride around the world, searching for clues hidden in artifacts long forgotten. Two siblings pick up where their adventure-loving father left off. The older brother found storied artifacts—the first steps that led them to something shrouded in mystery and thought to be wishful thinking. This movie gives credence to the myth and mystery of “The Fountain of Youth.” The audience is taken on a whirlwind ride from start to finish—beginning in Bangkok, Thailand , and ending in Egypt at the Pyramids of Giza . The journey spans five continents  and even takes viewers to the near bottom of the ocean to find the Lusitania . The visuals and views are absolutely breathtaking throughout the movie and it ends with scenes that are puzzling and unbelievably believable. A real Guy Ritchie-style  fun ride! Intrigue, mystery, and adventure are woven throughout the story. Hidden history is uncovered along the way. The movie begins with Luke Purdue  taking a wild ride through Bangkok with a stolen masterpiece in his possession. He’s an interesting and spirited character who bends the rules almost to the breaking point to get what he wants—his father’s ultimate goal: locating the Fountain of Youth . He escapes with the masterpiece but almost loses it when he encounters Esme , an agent from a secret society pledged to protect the Fountain from all humankind. Some of the movie’s highpoints are their interactions. It’s like watching a perfectly choreographed, dysfunctional relationship with weird chemistry. A cute moment? Him trying to kiss a resistant Esme. Other highpoints include Luke tricking his baby sister, Charlotte , into going on another adventure to finish their dad's prestigious work. He revives the excitement they shared as kids, traveling the world in search of hidden treasures. Charlotte, who gets fired, implicated in an art heist, and almost loses custody of her son all in one day, is initially hesitant. But she can’t resist the pull of archeological discovery. She is an artistic genius  and quickly identifies one of the key clues as a forgery, stumping the rest of the team. Their benefactor is a terminally ill billionaire  who hopes the Fountain’s water will cure him. He promises to help Charlotte keep custody of her music prodigy son, Thomas , if she joins the team. He follows through, and the team solidifies. This movie is an adventure that teaches history in a hugely memorable way—without you even realizing it. What’s a Wicked Bible ? Where did the Lusitania  sink and what valuables went with it? Who knew Rembrandt  made copies of his own works? Of course, there are near-death experiences, secrets and lies, betrayal, shootouts, prophetic nightmares , and even a musical key  that unlocks mystery and destruction to keep the audience hooked. Oh—and Thomas and Inspector Jamal Abbas ? Total scene-stealers. Interesting, shocking, and stunning  are the words that come to mind after watching this movie. Watched it twice—and the journey was totally enjoyable.

Lock and Load — Dark Wolf  Is Coming for You If you thought The Terminal List  was intense, buckle up, because Amazon Prime is kicking the doors down with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf . Set to premiere in August 2025, this gritty prequel promises more covert ops, morally gray decisions, and enough adrenaline to power a SEAL team through hell and back.
