Prime Video is putting a fresh and decidedly explosive spin on one of fiction’s most famous detectives. The streamer has officially unveiled the first trailer and key art for Young Sherlock, an upcoming eight-episode series from director Guy Ritchie that explores the origin story of Sherlock Holmes long before Baker Street made him a legend.
Starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After) as a youthful, rebellious version of Sherlock, the series promises an irreverent, action-heavy take on the iconic character. All eight episodes of Young Sherlock will premiere March 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Set against the backdrop of a vibrant Victorian England with adventures stretching well beyond its borders the series follows Sherlock as he stumbles into his very first case. When a charismatic and dangerous James Moriarty enters his life, Sherlock is pulled into a murder investigation that threatens his freedom and exposes a globe-trotting conspiracy. The case ultimately leads to a showdown that permanently alters the trajectory of his life, shaping the man he will one day become.
Prime Video describes the show as a look at the “anarchic adolescent” version of Holmes brilliant, defiant, and not yet the calculating mastermind known to generations of readers and viewers.

The cast also includes Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time), Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Max Irons (Condor), and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech).
Guy Ritchie directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer, bringing his signature kinetic style to the famed detective’s early years. The series is created for television by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, who also executive produces alongside Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson, with Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson serving as co-executive producers. Motive Pictures led physical production on the project.
With Young Sherlock, Prime Video is betting that there’s still plenty of mystery left to uncover in the early life of one of pop
culture’s most enduring characters this time with a sharper edge, bigger action, and a very familiar nemesis waiting in the wings.
