Miranda Priestly Returns in First The Devil Wears Prada 2 Trailer

Two women stand side by side, one with sunglasses, wearing black, and the other in a pinstripe outfit with a necklace. Gray wall backdrop.

Put down the fat-free yogurt and pay attention, because the fashion event of the decade just dropped. After nearly twenty years of fans pleading for a sequel, the first official trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 finally hit screens during the Grammy Awards, proving that revenge much like a vintage Chanel suit is a dish best served cold and perfectly tailored.

The trailer opens with the rhythmic clicking of stilettos on marble, a sound that still triggers fight-or-flight responses in former assistants everywhere. We find ourselves back in the hallowed, minimalist halls of Runway, but the landscape has shifted. The print industry is gasping for air, and even the formidable Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) is feeling the squeeze of a digital-first world.

The real hook? Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is back, and she isn’t wearing those lumpy cerulean sweaters anymore. Now a respected journalist with a wardrobe that would make Nigel weep with joy, Andy returns to the lion's den as the magazine’s new Features Editor. In the trailer’s most deliciously cruel moment, Miranda looks Andy dead in the eye and asks Nigel, "Who is this?" before labeling her as just another "Emily." It’s a masterclass in shade that proves Streep hasn't lost a beat.

While the reunion between Andy and Miranda is the heart of the footage, the plot twist involving Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) is the real catalyst. No longer the girl who missed Paris, Emily is revealed as a high-powered executive at a luxury conglomerate. The irony is thicker than a September issue: Miranda now has to grovel to her former subordinate to secure the advertising revenue needed to keep Runway afloat.

The banter remains as sharp as a stiletto. We see a glimpse of Andy and Emily reunited, with Emily offering a signature backhanded compliment about Andy’s "brave" choice of eyebrows. It’s the kind of high-fashion friction we’ve been craving since 2006.

Directed by the returning David Frankel, the sequel looks visually stunning, trading the mid-2000s grime of New York for the ultra-polished aesthetic of the 2020s. With a cast that now includes Simone Ashley and Lucy Liu, the film is clearly aiming for a more global, modern perspective on the industry.

Set to a remixed version of Madonna’s "Vogue," the trailer promises a May 1, 2026 release. It’s clear that while the clothes have changed, the cutthroat nature of the industry remains exactly the same. For those of us at The TV Cave, the countdown to May has officially begun. We’ll be watching, likely from the "six" section.
