The Buccaneers Renewed For Season 3 at Apple TV+ With More Scandal, Corsets and Cliffhangers Ahead

Three people walk along a path by the sea. One woman holds a lace umbrella. Bright clothing and trees create a nostalgic, serene mood.

The girls are back and the drama is only getting richer. Apple TV+ has officially renewed The Buccaneers for Season 3, giving fans another round of rebellious debutantes, scandalous secrets, and an increasingly complicated game of romantic musical chairs. The news comes two months after the period drama wrapped its explosive second season, and yes, we are still recovering from that finale.

For those keeping score, Season 2 ended with Theo abdicating his title so he could marry Lizzy, leaving poor Nan literally running from the wreckage with a royal baby in her belly and no plan in sight. Now with Season 3 confirmed, we can expect even more jaw-dropping developments, emotional chaos, and yes, possibly even more Taylor Swift needle drops. You’re welcome.

Creator and showrunner Katherine Jakeways says the next chapter will be a game changer. With Nan free from her duchess duties and a secret pregnancy in play, the stakes have never been higher. And just when you thought the aristocratic mess couldn’t get messier, the new season will introduce a potential villain in the form of Theo’s secret half-brother Kit, who has been summoned to take over as the new Duke of Tintagel. Because what is a period drama without a hidden heir ready to stir the pot?

Despite not cracking the top of the U.S. streaming charts, The Buccaneers has built a loyal following and scored solid critical praise with a 72 percent average on Rotten Tomatoes. The show’s mix of soapy period drama, sharp modern edge, and pop soundtrack has carved out a niche that fans clearly can’t get enough of.

Season 3 will once again be produced by The Forge Entertainment, with Jakeways and Beth Willis returning as executive producers. Joe Innes, who served as producer in the first two seasons, is stepping up as EP for the third outing.

Whether you’re in it for the corsets, the chaos, or the cliffside breakdowns, The Buccaneers is far from finished. With Season 3 officially on the horizon, it's safe to say the ball is just getting started.
