Joshua Allen, winner of Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance, who has died at the age of 36. Known for his explosive talent and charismatic stage presence, Allen captivated millions when he claimed the title in 2008.



Joshua Allen rose to national fame after winning the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance, becoming the first hip hop dancer to take the top prize. His performances were praised for their energy, precision, and emotional depth. A fan favorite throughout the competition, Allen’s victory marked a turning point in the show’s history by showcasing the growing impact of street and freestyle dance in mainstream media.


Following his win, Allen went on to appear in popular films such as Step Up 3D and the 2011 remake of Footloose. He also made guest appearances on hit television shows like Community and American Horror Story, establishing himself as a versatile performer in both dance and acting.


Emmanuel Hurd a well known choreographer released a statement on Instagram: “I can’t wrap my head around this… Josh… my brotha. There are no words. You were the life of the party. You were Batman. Champion. One of the realest people I ever met. Kept it a stack every time and would make it right if you fell short. A real King. This one hurts deep. I know you’re with Stephen now and that brings me comfort. I love you bro.”


No cause of death beyond the train incident has been confirmed. His family has requested privacy during this time.
