Ride or Die: Executive Producers Tessa Coates and Matt Miller Preview Prime Video's New Spy Series

Three stylish guests walk through a warm-lit gala room, led by a blonde woman in a gold dress, with chandeliers and crowd behind.

Hollywood loves to give us the same old buddy-cop formulas, but Prime Video is finally flipping the script. Their upcoming television series, Ride or Die, lands on the streaming platform on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The highly anticipated project features a dream pairing: Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham. Instead of just staying safely behind the camera, both powerhouse actresses stepped up to steer the ship as executive producers.

The premise sounds like a wild fever dream in the best way possible. Debbie Claybourne (Spencer) is a completely normal woman who thinks she knows everything about her lifelong best friend, Judith Burton (Waddingham). That is, until she discovers Judith is actually an international assassin who takes out bad guys for cash. Throw in a husband who accidentally robs the mob, a botched mission, and a sudden flight across Europe, and you have the recipe for summer’s biggest hit.

🎭 Cast, Crew, and What to Expect

Beyond the two magnetic leads, the series has built a phenomenal supporting line-up. The legendary Bill Nighy joins the fray as The Director, alongside Ed Skrein, Calam Lynch, and Sylvia Hoeks. Behind the lens, director Peyton Reed steps away from Marvel movies to bring his sharp comedic timing and crisp action sequences to the small screen.

What sets this apart from your average spy flick is the lack of gratuitous, mindless violence. The production team operated under a strict "north star" to keep the tone genuinely fun. The body count focuses strictly on the actual villains—no innocent civilians or kids are getting caught up in the crossfire. It is an action-comedy that actually remembers to have a heart, leaning entirely on the unbreakable bond between two women who are completely out of their depth but refusing to back down.

🍿 Ready for the Premiere?

Mark your calendars because all eight episodes of Ride or Die drop at once on July 15, 2026. If the off-screen camaraderie between Spencer and Waddingham is even half as good on screen, Prime Video has a massive winner on its hands.
