Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 4 - Friend or Foe Recap & Review

Three individuals seated at a courtroom defense table, focused. Notebooks and a water pitcher are present. Wood-paneled walls in background.

This week on Reasonable Doubt, betrayals, teenage rebellion, and Lewis finally puts his foot down. Let’s get into it.

Jax and the Case Strategy

Jax heads over to Ollie’s to press Naomi, Ozzie’s sister, and now Daniel’s new love interest, possibly, about the drugs. Naomi doesn’t mince words: she gave Ozzie the drugs the night of the overdose. Daniel encourages her to be honest, and she admits that Ozzie's supplier was once a guy named Byron who got high with Ozzie. With jury selection underway, Jax knows time is short. She leans into a strategy that uses Ozzie’s abuse and addiction spiral to build jury sympathy.

In a standout scene, Jax runs hypotheticals with Susan from Accounting, the same Susan who watched that infamous video. Watching her emotional reaction gave us a glimpse of how the jury might respond. We know our girl is smart. Bill takes notes.

Bill and Kendra

Bill comes through with flowers for his anniversary; unfortunately, he’s a day late. Kendra isn’t impressed, nor does she buy into his sudden burst of enthusiasm for Ozzie’s case. He also tries to bring the kids back early so that he can be in court, but Kendra isn't having it. By the end, he manages to thaw some of the ice: he brings the kids home, brings her favorite meal as well, so that she does not have to cook.

Lewis, Leadership, and Betrayal

Lewis’ subplot this week hit a nerve. In his new leadership role, he attempts to mentor Sam, a young Black coder who admits he never received proper C++ training but was proficient in C# and thought it was sufficient. Sam plays on Lewis' empathy, having once been a young black man proving himself, he knows how hard it is. Lewis, empathetic, covers for him. But when the truth comes out, that Sam lied about a non-compete clause, Lewis is expected to fire him, and when he does, Sam betrays him. A gut punch for Lewis, but also a wake-up call: leadership isn’t just about empathy; it’s about discernment.

Home Drama: The Kids and the Parents

One of the best moments? Jax and Lewis sneaking in a quick sexy-time before their daughter walks in. Realistic, funny, and true to the chaos of parenthood. But the domestic bliss shatters when Naima storms in with an attitude. She’s discovered that Jayden was Lewis’s son, forcing Jax and Lewis into the painful position of telling both her and Spencer the truth.

As if that weren't enough, Jax’s own mother betrays her by bringing Eddie—Jax’s father around the kids. Lewis confronts Eddie after Jax's seems to be softening toward letting the kids know him. He orders him to leave town. Eddie doesn’t take that lightly, setting us up for a tense showdown.

Cliffhanger Ending

The hour closes on a cliffhanger that left my stomach in knots. Ozzie's abuser is revealed, and it is shocking. The scene where he has to tell his parents was heartbreaking.

Final Thoughts

This week’s episode was a reminder of why we come back every week for a new episode of Reasonable Doubt.

The cases never overshadow the character's personal stakes and their flaws drive the story as much as the cases do. This is evident in the girls' night, Lewis's work struggle, the balance of parenthood, and how much kids should know. All of it was well done.

Rating: 10/10. A packed episode that hit on every level—legal tension, family drama, betrayal, and little romance.
