Three men sitting at a table, one shaking hands with another. Modern room with blue walls and red appliances. Serious mood.

It takes a lot to make a workplace comedy feel fresh, even when it’s set in the most dreaded office imaginable: the Department of Motor Vehicles but DMV keeps the laughs coming. Now to top it off: enter Randall Park, the same actor who charmed audiences in “Fresh Off the Boat” and “WandaVision” as he guest stars on DMV, bringing star power, laughs and charisma. With his arrival, the East Hollywood branch may never recover.

Park plays Beau Young, the charismatic manager of the rival North Hollywood branch. The official synopsis perfectly sums up the episode’s premise: “There Is No I in DMV – Barb takes the team on a field trip to the rival North Hollywood branch to learn the secrets of their success. She begins to doubt herself after meeting their charismatic manager, Beau (Randall Park). Meanwhile, Gregg and Vic get in Colette’s head that Noa prefers risk-takers.”

It’s a perfect setup for workplace comedy mayhem. Barb and her team, including the always sardonic Gregg, the charmingly clueless Vic, and the meticulous Colette are suddenly out of their comfort zone. As they navigate Beau’s confident leadership style, Barb starts questioning her own abilities, while the rest of the team contends with mixed signals and office rivalry. Randall Park brings the kind of energy that turns everyday DMV office life into a playground of awkward humor, rivalry, and unforgettable comedy.

This episode showcases the show’s potential. DMV already thrives on a quirky ensemble and absurd office dynamics, and adding a savvy, magnetic guest like Randall Park elevates the stakes. The episode highlights the classic workplace comedy tension: egos clash, insecurities flare, and lessons are learned the hard way all with the trademark DMV humor and shenanigans.

Randall Park’s guest appearance proves that a strong supporting role can completely shift the energy of a series. With the North Hollywood branch setting, fresh conflicts, and the team’s vulnerabilities exposed, this episode promises memorable laughs and a bit of cringe in all the right places.

Mark your calendars: DMV airs Monday, November 24, from 9:30 to 10:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network, and is streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Don’t miss Beau Young’s arrival as DMV just got a lot more interesting.
