Smiling woman lying on a pink bed, talking on a retro transparent phone with a curly cord, wearing a pastel hoodie, appears cheerful.

Amazon’s Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, which zooms in on Elle Woods’ high school years just locked in a July 1, 2026 premiere date and, in a bold move that’s got Hollywood buzzing, was renewed for Season 2 before Season 1 even debuts. This double whammy sets the bar high for one of the summer’s most anticipated streaming shows.

Set to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories, Elle is a coming‑of‑age comedy‑drama that promises to explore the experiences that helped shape Elle Woods into the unstoppable force first introduced in the 2001 Legally Blonde film.

Leading the cast is breakout talent Lexi Minetree as the teenage Elle Woods, stepping into the pink‑filled shoes made famous by Reese Witherspoon. The series also stars June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as Elle’s parents, along with Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker in key roles.

Behind the scenes, Elle benefits from serious star power and creative pedigree. The show is co‑created by Laura Kittrell (Insecure, High School), who co‑showruns alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon returns to the Legally Blonde universe as an executive producer through her Hello Sunshine banner, alongside producers Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt.

Landing a summer release date is smart programming from Prime Video, a period when audiences are hungry for light, engaging content to binge between blockbuster movies and returning series. And the fact that Amazon has already entrusted Elle with a second season suggests strong confidence in the show’s creative direction and its potential to resonate with both fans of the original films and a new generation of viewers.

There’s plenty of buzz on social feeds about how this prequel will set itself apart while honoring the quirky optimism that made Elle Woods a pop‑culture favorite. Early promo photos show Minetree capturing the iconic Elle energy, pink, poised, and ready to break hearts (and maybe a few stereotypes).

More than just another franchise extension, Elle is a strategic gamble by Prime Video: a mixture of nostalgia, feel‑good storytelling and character work that could anchor the platform’s summer slate.

Ready to revisit (or newly discover) the world of Elle Woods? Grab your popcorn and polish your pink, Elle is coming to Prime Video this summer.
