Move over, sports documentaries, Netflix is sliding into the rink with a brand-new high school hockey drama that’s already generating buzz, and the cast reveal only adds fuel to the fire. The streaming giant has officially assembled a roster of rising stars and familiar faces, setting the stage for what could be the next must-watch teen sports saga. From tragedy to triumph, the series promises a mix of heartbreak, high-stakes hockey action, and small-town drama that could make you reach for your pom-poms or your tissues.

The show, created by Nick Naveda and produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps, takes place in South Dorothy, Minnesota, a town with a legendary high school hockey program. The series opens with a devastating bus crash that claims the lives of several star players and the revered Coach “Sully” Sullivan. Enter Harper Sullivan (Michelle Monaghan), the coach’s widow, who takes over the team. What follows is a story of underdogs, community pride and the relentless pursuit of redemption, all against the backdrop of ice, sticks and plenty of slap shots.

Trey Edward Shults directs the first two episodes and also executive produces, while Moera Ainai (The Perfect Couple) joins as producer. With this kind of creative powerhouse behind the scenes, expectations are high for a series that can deliver both heart and intensity.

Why You Should Keep an Eye on This One

Netflix’s hockey drama isn’t just another teen sports show, it’s a high-stakes tale of grief, resilience, and small-town pride. With Monaghan leading a team of emotionally charged young actors, the series promises a blend of raw emotion and edge-of-your-seat hockey action. Expect rivalries, heartbreak, and maybe a miracle goal or two that could become instant fan-favorites.

The combination of Shawn Levy’s production magic, an emotionally resonant story, and a talented cast makes this one to track as Netflix builds its roster of original teen dramas.
