If you’ve been waiting for the moment the house of cards finally catches a stiff breeze, Season 1, Episode 7, “Dr. Parks,” is the gale-force wind we’ve been looking for. Memory of A Killer has spent weeks dangling threads of sanity and betrayal, but this week, the walls aren’t just closing in, they’re practically touching.
Angelo’s Brain is a Bad Neighborhood
Our favorite hitman with a conscience (and a crumbling hippocampus) is still spiraling. Angelo is desperate to unmask the Ferryman, but instead of getting answers, he’s getting a front-row seat to his own mental decline. Between the sleep deprivation and those "memory treatments" from a doctor who clearly graduated from the School of Sketchy Medicine, Angelo’s head is a jumbled mess of timelines and trauma.
Despite Dutch practically screaming at him to "let it go" regarding the Dr. Parks hit, Angelo does exactly what he always does: the opposite. He visits Wesley, an amateur bullet maker who apparently doubles as an amateur corpse. Angelo’s plan to track a shipment back to the Ferryman ends with Wesley dead and a taunting note left behind. When Angelo brings this back to Dutch, we see a rare crack in Dutch’s composure as he trades threats with his mysterious client. We’ve got a new player in the game, and they aren't playing by the rules.
Side note: Angelo sticking up for Joe to his dad was nice to see. Some more backstory into Joe is what we need.
The Button of Doom
Meanwhile, the detectives are actually doing… detective work? Jeff and his PI uncle bring Dave a button found at the scene of the guy Angelo offed to protect Maria. CSI has narrowed the fibers down to three high-end NYC shops.
In a classic "TV irony" moment, Dave meets with a witness who gives a description that screams Angelo, yet Dave still hasn't connected the dots. It’s the kind of procedural blindness that makes you want to throw a remote at the screen, but the tension is undeniably delicious.
Yoga, Lies, and Cable Guys
Maria is currently the most hunted woman in the tri-state area, though she’s the last to know it. Nicky, who is proving to be a world-class manipulator, infiltrates Maria’s yoga class to pump her for info. Later, Nicky gaslights Angelo during a date, "reminding" him of things he never said to nudge him back toward that shady doctor.
But the real chills come from Earl Hancock. The man who killed Maria’s mother is now her cable guy. If that doesn't make you want to cancel your Xfinity subscription, nothing will. Maria isn't helpless, though; she’s stashing guns in the nursery like a survivalist Pinterest board. When her attempt at a restraining order fails, Dave mentions the expensive shop the button came from. Maria says its can't be that expensive because Angelo shops there and you can see the wheels turning in Dave's head. Is the jig up?
The Debt to the Ferryman
The episode ends with a gut-punch reveal: Nicky is working with Hancock. She’s the one scrambling Angelo’s brains and cozying up to Maria to settle a debt with the Ferryman.
"Dr. Parks" proves that in this world, memories are a weapon and "help" is just another word for "sabotage." With Dave finally putting two and two together about Angelo's wardrobe and his double life, the domestic bliss is officially dead.
