Man in a purple jacket talks on a porch step with a worried boy in orange shoes, both framed by house columns and railing.

Kevin Hart’s animated younger self is back, and this time, his mouth might have gotten him into more trouble than even his mother can handle. Paramount+ has announced that Lil Kev will return for Season 2 on Wednesday, December 9, with all 10 episodes dropping at once. Because when it comes to Kevin Hart, apparently one disaster at a time just isn't enough.

Inspired by Hart’s childhood growing up in North Philadelphia, the adult animated comedy takes fans back to 1993, when 12-year-old Kev has big dreams, an even bigger imagination, and a remarkable talent for making questionable decisions. Between his family’s antics and the neighborhood chaos, there’s never a dull moment. Unfortunately for Kev, growing up means eventually discovering that some mistakes come with consequences.

Lil Kev Is About to Learn a Hard Lesson

Season 2 takes a more serious turn when Kev lashes out at the system, making an impulsive decision that lands him in the juvenile justice system. Suddenly, the kid who usually talks his way through trouble finds himself facing an adult world he isn't prepared to navigate.

That’s quite the reality check for someone whose usual approach to life involves turning every catastrophe into another entertaining story. The question is whether Kev can maintain his signature optimism when the stakes become much higher.

Of course, his family isn't going anywhere. His fiercely protective mother Nancy still has her hands full, while his recovering father Henry, cynical older brother Robert, and ex-con uncle Richard Jr. continue contributing their own special brand of dysfunction. With this crew, getting into trouble might as well be a family tradition.

The Familiar Voices Are Back

Hart returns to voice his younger self alongside an impressive cast of comedy veterans. Wanda Sykes reprises her role as Nancy, with Deon Cole returning as Uncle Richard Jr., Jamar Malachi Neighbors as Robert, and Gerald “Slink” Johnson as Henry.

Also returning are Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Nicole Aimee Schreiber, Cree Summer, Mo Collins, Loretta Devine, Affion Crockett, Clayton Thomas, Justin Hires, Wé Ani, and Rick Ingraham. Produced by Hartbeat and animated by ShadowMachine, the series continues under executive producers and showrunners Matthew Claybrooks and Michael Price.

While Lil Kev delivers plenty of laughs, its foundation remains Hart’s experiences growing up in Philadelphia, surrounded by colorful personalities, tough lessons, and family members who weren't always equipped to give the best advice. Season 2 looks ready to push that coming-of-age story into more complicated territory without abandoning the outrageous humor that makes Kev's world so entertaining. One thing is certain: Nancy is going to need every ounce of patience she has left.

All 10 episodes of Lil Kev Season 2 premiere December 9 exclusively on Paramount+.
