Jamie Lee Curtis Confirms Death of Sister Kelly Curtis at Age 69

Actress Kelly Curtis, eldest daughter of Hollywood legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, has passed away at the age of 69. Her younger sister, Oscar winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, shared a public tribute announcing the news of her passing. Known for her roles in nineties television staples and her extensive behind the scenes collaboration with her family, Kelly Curtis leaves behind a legacy spanning decades in Hollywood.


Lee Curtis confirms that Kelly Curtis died on Saturday morning, May 30. According to the family statement, she passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by nature. While the initial report established the location and timing of her death, a specific medical cause of death has not been publicly disclosed by the family. She is survived by her husband, Scott Morfee, and her sister, Jamie Lee Curtis.



Born into Hollywood royalty, Kelly Curtis established her own multi-faceted career before and behind the camera. She graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in business and briefly worked as a stockbroker before transitioning to the performing arts. She trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, embarking on an acting career that included a role in the 1983 comedy film Trading Places alongside her sister.



Her subsequent television portfolio included appearances on Star Trek Deep Space Nine, The Equalizer, Hunter, and Silk Stalkings, alongside a prominent film role in The Sentinel. Later in her career, she transitioned to production support, working as an assistant on multiple major film projects for her sister including Freaky Friday, Christmas with the Kranks and You Again. More recently, she stepped into the director chair for independent documentaries, directing the 2018 track team documentary Marby Jets Are Go and the 2019 sports documentary Curling in Stanley.
