The brevity of the offer didn’t dampen his excitement; in fact, it amplified it. “I found out a couple of my friends from Queen Sugar were there…so I’ll be surrounded by some good people,” Vaughan said.

He even shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote about reconnecting with old colleagues while preparing for the role: “I reached out to Wayne, our man Barber…he said, ‘I’m working on this really cool show. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it. It’s called Beyond the Gates.’ Small world,” Vaughan laughed.
