A Familiar Face Joins the Fire Country Universe

CBS is doubling down on its hit drama Fire Country with an exciting new spinoff titled Sheriff Country, and it just added a major name to the cast: Matt Lauria. Known for standout roles in Friday Night Lights, CSI: Vegas, and Parenthood, Lauria’s may generate enough buzz to get fans to tune in. Who Is Matt Lauria?

He’s tackled sports drama (Friday Night Lights) and catching criminals (CSI: Vegas), Lauria has proven he can handle emotionally complex and high-stakes roles.

In Sheriff Country, Lauria will portray Boone, the chief deputy and right hand man to Deputy Mickey Fox. They have been partners for years but Boone feels he was looked over for the job that has gone to Mickey so it isn’t all BFF’s forever with these two.

A spinoff of the wildfire-rescue series Fire Country, Sheriff Country shifts focus to rural law enforcement in the fictional small town of Edgewater. Leading the cast is Morena Baccarin, playing Deputy Mickey Fox, a determined law enforcer juggling criminal investigations, a complicated relationship with her ex-con father (played by W. Earl Brown), and a daughter hiding dangerous secrets. We see a new universal being built like its direct competition 9-1-1. Let’s see if this is as successful, but casting well known tv actors is key.
