All American Season 8 Episode 8 Review: “Best Friends” Ends With a Terrifying Olivia Cliffhanger

Friday. One day until the showcase. And somehow, All American finds another way to add even MORE drama before we get there!

KJ runs into some of his teammates, and they are worried about the possibility of being suspended from the team. They also aren't exactly feeling confident in Cassius as their coach anymore. KJ tries to assure them that everything is going to be okay, but even he isn't completely sure about that.

Then here comes that snake Mosley. Mosley catches KJ in the hallway and claims he has a way to change the school board's mind. I don't trust this man AT ALL, but KJ is just gullible enough to believe that Cliff might actually be trying to help.

Meanwhile, Khalil is at home studying when Layla stops by. They have a really good conversation, and Khalil asks about the situation with Preach. They also talk about everything happening with Jordan. I really like the relationship these two have developed because Layla can actually talk to Khalil without treating him like a kid. Layla is also back in her grind, dealing with an artist who is apparently being targeted by another label. But then she gets a surprise visit from Olivia, who is VERY pregnant.

Olivia and Spencer are in town for Spencer's commercial shoot, and this is apparently the last time Olivia will be able to fly for a while. So she is staying with Layla and Jordan. And of course, this means we're getting some OG All American memories.

KJ tells his teammates about Cliff's plan, but they aren't really buying it. Tori also comes over to talk about everything that's happening, and it's actually pretty funny watching Olivia sit there listening to all of this drama. When KJ shows up, Tori is still there, which makes for one VERY awkward reunion.

Layla and Olivia decide to take Tori out and start telling her about the old days, including all the drama with Spencer. We get treated to a bunch of flashbacks from the earlier seasons, and honestly, I enjoyed this. There were several moments I didn't even remember seeing, so it was fun looking back at how far these characters have come. Khalil also gives KJ some much-needed tough love. He basically tells him to stop worrying about Tori and focus on the showcase because they have way too much riding on this, and he's right!

KJ and Cassius talk about Cliff and everything he's been doing. KJ still believes Cliff can help keep his father as head coach, but Cassius clearly isn't interested in letting Cliff take control of anything. Tori later meets up with Khalil and tells him about her conversation with Layla and Olivia. She lets him know that he's a real friend and that she's rooting for him, no matter what future he chooses for himself.

Then we get back to Cliff. He walks into Cassius' office and basically tells him that he's taking over from here. Cassius wants absolutely NOTHING to do with his help, and honestly, I don't blame him. After everything Cliff pulled in the previous episode, I wouldn't trust him either.

Then we finally get to showcase day.Khalil is getting ready to leave when he discovers Olivia bleeding.She's only 32 weeks pregnant.This is way too early.Khalil initially panics, but he quickly gets himself together and calls Jordan. Jordan immediately runs off the field, which connects directly to the scene we saw all the way back in the first episode.

The words Layla told Khalil earlier come back to him, and instead of freezing up, he jumps into action. He runs upstairs and starts grabbing everything he can think of — towels, water, gloves and a first-aid kit. Khalil is completely locked in.

Olivia tells him to find Spencer. And that's where the episode ends!

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I was sitting there like, NOPE! YOU CANNOT END THE EPISODE RIGHT THERE! Now I'm sitting here wondering if Olivia is going to be okay, if the babies are going to be okay, and whether Spencer is even going to make it back in time.

This episode did a really good job of balancing the old-school All American nostalgia with the current storylines. The flashbacks were fun, KJ is still caught up in way too much drama, and Cliff continues to be someone I absolutely do not trust.

But that ending completely stole the episode. I'M MAD THEY ENDED IT THERE! She better not lose these babies!
